Heard lots about how REAL has been a gong show over the years so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

The story also ignores that until recently the province owned that stretch. But yes, video news is evil.

Province still owns/maintains south of the median crossover where the photo radar box is.

The City Administration is recommending approval of the next phase of Aurora shopping centre by the RPC at their meeting this week. This phase includes a theatre. Little info is provided on the theatre except that it is in a 36,000 sf building.

I'm not sure what additional information you were looking for on the theatre but you can see its location from the Shop at Aurora webpage. They have a PDF that was updated last week that includes the maps for the area. Along with the location of Costco, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, and Starbucks.

I suppose I was looking for the format (does Landmark have several formats?). Also the number of screens and seating capacity. Edit: I guess all this was info was released some time ago now that I do a Google search. 8 screens, 880 fancy recliners...

They just announced one of these in Calgary as well (in the Market Mall, which had a Famous Players at one time.) This even sounded like a big deal for Calgary, which is only about to get its first Cineplex VIP.

“It will be the largest conference ever held in the City of Regina,” Timmons says. “We’re expecting between 7,000 to 8,000 participants.”

Oh man, they're actually fulfilling the "GTH is a dumpster fire" metaphor. I guess the scale of an actual dumpster fire would have been too small for the GTH... needed to scale it up a few notches.

It's a huge, huge deal. Classes are cancelled campus-wide during Congress (May 24-June 3), which - if you know Universities - is a big deal... their calendar is basically etched in stone year-to-year. To essentially shut the UofR down for 12 days during what's already a short term (Spring/Summer), and not starting/ending the term early/late gives some perspective.

It's flown under the radar off-campus, but when you think about the folks that will be coming for Congress, the demographic is certainly one that local businesses should see an impact from... especially restaurants & pubs (and hotels, obviously - though many will be staying on campus in the residences).

There will be events open to the public (e.g.: the Lecture Series)... they're also looking for 500 volunteers (as well as some paid positions).

12% in 2017 office report by Avison Young.
If it reaches 5% look for another office tower to be built.

This site on the NW corner of Reynolds and Victoria has been leveled and PCL has a contruction fence and trailers in place. What is being built?
