Any movement on it getting built on?

Also, Pritzker has thousands if users per day, not dozens.

That's the "mews". And if "mews" didn't date back to middle English it would be a candidate for worst new word of the year.

mews
/mjuːz/

noun (functioning as singular or pl) ( mainly Brit)

1. a yard or street lined by buildings originally used as stables but now often converted into dwellings
2. the buildings around a mews
3. (informal) an individual residence in a mews

Word Origin
C14: pl of mew ³, originally referring to royal stables built on the site of hawks' mews at Charing Cross in London

From the definition, seems pretty silly to call anything in new construction that was never a stables as a "mews".

Dont know how I feel about the residential component. I think it would be better across the street, and have that whole 7 acres be office. Corporate wants security and access control that clashes with residential.
Anyone have examples of things like this working well?

Cool video. Have you guys gone on the diagram page lately? Click and add the the proposed section. I know its dead but I never realized how much of an impact height and design the Union Staion Tower would have had. Such a — design with some real height. In that area it definetly would have been a skyline changer.

Are there not buildings that have office and residential in the same building?

evanston stuff should go in the suburban urban development thread: CHICAGOLAND | Suburban Urban Development

i've now moved it out of the midwest sub-forum and into the general development sub-forum for greater exposure.

900 North Michigan and 980 North Michigan as well. Maybe Water Tower Place? Can't remember.

You just build separate entrances. They don't share elevator bays, obviously.

^^^They moved riverpoint's to point at wolf point east when they started drilling but then paused it. If anyone knows anyone with connections to that maybe we can get it turned back on.

The 1,000' of river frontage and over 4-acres of green will certainly be a draw.

I actually think it's quite different to have separate entrances to the same building off public sidewalks/streets, versus having separate buildings on an off grid campus. If residents and their guests are coming home at 2 am, is the entire campus open, or is there limited access to the residential because the office sections are closed off?

Kind of like J.W. Marriott were the first 12 floors are hotel and have access through the adams side, while the tenants enter through LaSalle and wells sides. But technically all elevators can go to all floors. But its entirely different because it was a conversion of an old building.

We have "mews" all over Norfolk. Old and new. They seem to be small side streets usually leading to parking etc behind buildings.

Would be cool if the city cranes would have lights just like the one in Old Town Park, especially for the holidays.

Sleeper on the piles - I think those are the proper terms. The tops of the foundation piles can be seen to either side of the workers.

Ready for some stress - steel is for stress, concrete for pressure.
