this is approx 4 times the size of the culvert they had there before, and the houses down the street flooded at least twice before this was replaced.

I'm glad it's been replaced finally.

Edit: The Brook seems to be running passed without any problems, and is no longer as high as it was with the old culvert.

According to Mayor Dawn Arnold's FB page, the city has a new lessee for the lands at the Wharf Village Shops at Magnetic Hill. The post did not indicate what the new venture will be, but did state that things should be "operational" by Mother's Day.

The new owners plan on keeping it as is. The buildings will be renovated and work with a local engineer and get that structurally back up and running

Hopefully it is implemented correctly, and that what happen last time does not happen again.

Unfortunately for the new owners it will be a major undertaking since the Warf structure, and buildings had not been well maintained. Means a lot of Structural work will need to be done, and in a timely manner if they want to be open by Mothers day.

They are now working on the 6th and final floor at the new Holiday Inn and Suites on Mapleton at the TCH.

Wineries of Lutes Mountain:

Pioneer Mountain Estates (same people who own Pumphouse Brewery)

The vineyards are up and running. They plan to build a Bavarian style winery & restaurant on site in the next five years.

Photo from mmmatt's construction photo tour from earlier this year. The new winery building is now topped out (three levels with a loft) and will be enclosed before the snow flies. The building is very large and will also feature a restaurant, patio and wine tasting space.

Who would ever have thought that Moncton would become a "Terroir" for wines.

A bronze statue of Tomar the tiger was unveiled at Moncton's Magnetic Hill Zoo on Friday afternoon.

Manager Bruce Dougan said the life-sized sculpture commemorates the life of Tomar, an Amur or Siberian tiger, who lived at the zoo for a decade.

"Tomar was a very iconic animal at the Magnetic Hill Zoo and this whole area … the Amur area of the zoo, was built in his memory," Dougan told Information Morning Moncton.

The statue depicts Tomar as a cub, playing with one of his favourite things, a pumpkin.

As noted in the main Moncton thread, there is a plan to put in a roundabout at the Evergreen/Ryan intersection, with construction perhaps beginning in 2019.

With the existing roundabout at the Ryan/Horsman intersection, this will effectively bracket Ecole le Sommet, similar to the two new roundabouts on Dieppe Blvd on either side of the new francophone school there.

I wonder if part of the plan is for these roundabouts to act as traffic calming features to limit speeding around these two schools.......

In the T&T today that the fabled North End Community Centre has been put off for yet another year (this is about the fifth time the centre has been put off for a year, and this is after years of lobbying effort before that!!)

The reason ostensibly is that the city and the YMCA (who will be operating the facility as a satellite of the YMCA on Vaughan Harvey) still haven't come to an agreement, although the city spokesman was confident that an agreement will be reached very shortly.

Still, we are distressingly early in the process. Without an operating agreement, the YMCA will not come up with a final plan of what will be included in the centre (some basics have however been decided like community meeting space, community gardens, indoor walking track, indoor splash pad). Without knowing what services will ultimately be included, plans and renders can't be drawn up. Without the renders, the cost of the centre cannot be estimated. Without cost estimates, the city can't make requests to the other levels of government for funding. Without funding in place, actual construction plans cannot be developed. As such, even if things progress optimally, I'm willing to bet it'll be at least five years before the centre opens.

In addition to the centre itself, a lot of supportive infrastructure has to be built. Although the centre was originally to have been built in behind Evergreen Park School, the plan is now to build the centre on Twin Oaks next to Ecole le Sommet. The ostensible reasons being that Twin Oaks will be a main street in the neighbourhood, and that the seven acre site gives lots of room for growth. It should be noted however that this section of Twin Oaks has yet to be built, and yet to be connected to the Ryan/Horsman roundabout. There will need to be millions of dollars of work here to even get to the point where the community centre could be built.

There are still many things that could go wrong in this process........

Last plans I had seen for the area was before École Le Sommet was built, and had Holland Road Extended to Samson Street, and Twin Oaks extended to the round about where the school entrance curently is with 2 Buildings on Ryan backing onto a street that conected Holland, and turnd left conecting to Twin oaks with a Court like street from Holland on the North East of the development. The plans looked to be Semi Detached, and fully detached homes with the 2 larger buildings looking from above like they would have matched the 2 apartment buildings just past Pebble Creek Way. Along with the school, and another lot behind it. that would be potentially 7 Acres.

Speculative at this point, but I imagine that you are right. This parcel of land makes the most sense.
