I can confirm with 100% certainty that True North, Longboat or the Chipmans are not involved in any way with the development proposed by the adjacent church. They have no developer....or money.

The website still shows 8 of the 13 upper floors as available. That's around 170,000 sq ft. Sounds like a lot but maybe it's not accurate.

Lots of propane tanks on site now. Anyone know if they'll be stopping construction of the residential tower during winter? The office tower is pretty much topped out so they'll finish that one for sure.
propane tanks are for the giant "going away" BBQ for the riff raff of downtown

They haven't updated anything on the website since it first launched, so I would put zero weight in the accuracy of leasing info. The most recent construction photo is when it was still a hole.

Surprised they went with a Carlton address for Tower 2 (residential) as opposed to Graham. Considering that Graham has by far the most street frontage, and that I'd consider it to be a more "prestigious" street/name than Carlton, and continually getting better, seems like an odd choice. Even the arena has a Graham address.

Quite possibly because the entrance to the tower is actually on Carlton.

If you are referring to 345 Graham Ave that is the contact us address for the Jets / True North Group. AKA the powerhouse complex address as CTV Winnipeg and Ticketmaster share the same street address.

The actual arena address is 300 Portage Ave.

That isn't really a factor, the building is on 2 streets, they could pick the one they want.

The arena is 345 Graham as it's considered part of the same complex. 300 Portage is the ticketmaster box office. Tavern United is listed as 260 Hargrave, even though their door is on Graham.

Carlton sounds more regal than Graham to me... and our city simply thinks of Graham as a transit corridor.

I think the real reason is to alleviate any confusion for anyone trying to reach the tower... unless you're more familiar with the city, it would be a guessing game for anyone to reach that address for visits/deliveries/etc because you're basically be guessing which one way streets to take to reach an address that doesn't allow vehicle traffic.

I mean the prestige in terms of what the streets represent here, not the sound of them without Winnipeg context. But that's definitely a good point about not being able to get to Graham by car. So is there no street entrances on Graham into Tower 2? That would be a monumental failure, and huge oversight (or willful mistake) on the part of the city if that were allowed to happen.

And when I look up the addresses they are flipped - arena address on Portage Ave and Ticketmaster has the powerhouse on Graham.

Guess it depends on what source one uses to search the address.

Next level of glazing started on the east side. Which would be the 10th floor.

Well, you're right... Graham is a known address and it should eventually be a busy corridor.

Regarding access, it's not about entrances... I think it's "bus only" until Carlton, hence the Carlton address. I'm not sure how hard TNS lobbied with transit to push the "bus-only" zone back to Hargrave or if they even bothered... They still would have no eastern access on a two way street which would be confusing. But maybe transit blocked them.

A Carlton access point is awkward, but a better choice than Hargrave which is narrower, has less parking, is in between "bus-only" strips, etc...

I don't really have a problem with any of it. Just my opinion.

Looking at Calgary, 7th Ave downtown is train only. There's loads of stuff going on there. It should be more attractive to have an entrance directly onto a transit only corridor, not a hindrance.

Isn't that what everyone wants, direct service to their front door?! ha

Weathers warmed up nicely for them too. I heard from my space/weather folks that there may be a shift in weather patterns and we're in for a mild winter. Some about the jet stream and the arctic.

^You better be right....not about the building stuff. That's not important. About the weather. As I have aged I find I don't like cold weather anymore.
