I saw workers and construction equipment at the Opus Place sight today. Looks like they are breaking ground very soon

Hey guys, I've been noticing a lot of activity at the Civic Center over the last week. The southeast quadrant is completely fenced off with heavy equipment and lots of dirt moving. I know the City of ATL sold this off recently in a deal for multiple towers and affordable housing...but don't remember seeing plans, renderings or any other updates...did I miss something? I'll walk by tomorrow and take some pics.

IIRC there was a permit for infrastructure on the site and nothing more.

RE: West Midtown residential tower.

That rendering looks taller than 18 stories which is what the permit filing for the King Plow site specified. No. idea what that could be.

Oh wow.. I hope this is for real, I always thought that part of town could use some major redevelopment, and a mega project like this with a performing arts center seems fitting.

There is no tower at King Plow. It's across the street adjacent to WestMar.

I hope they preserve the Civic Center auditorium with the next deal. I'm sure many don't like the architecture, but I think it is a cool looking building and hope they are able to reuse that building in the new development.

Well thank fuck they are covering that ugly parking garage. The designs of the office space are meh, boring but at least functional and they interact on the pedestrian level so I can’t complain about that. Nobu looks sexy tho, yas

If you consider the top of the parking podium as the "pedestrian level" then yeah that's good. But they're still completely ignoring the actual street- where there should be a pedestrian level. Buckhead is notorious for this idea of segregated urbanism.

None of the new programs meet the street based on the renderings. It's only a half-shot attempt at "meeting the street".
