LOL, some people take things just a bit too seriously.

Even at the height of the construction boom, Toronto never felt like this.

There is electricity building in the core, and I can see in a few years time it will be an exciting place. Kinda like the Kuala Lumpur of North America.

I moderate my own forum, and I just don't conduct myself like that. Some people aren't aware of every rule, they might not have time to read it, or just may have forgotten. We are all human Each to their own but I have always believed that you should try your best to be nice, even on the Internet.

Anyways, back on topic. I myself am pumped to see The One rise over the coming years, followed by CIBC Square. If we can manage to get Mirvish on this list as well in the next couple years that would truly be epic. Exciting times.

Great update Caltrane! The north side has grown on me, I like the dark grey cladding, it's not a depressing light grey hue, it's close enough to black that I find it solid, and the quality is there of course.

I really like the white part of the building but the north facade I'm not sold on yet. I will give it time to come together, but I feel as if it would have been nicer if the entire building was done in white. Maybe it's just me?

I think we finally have a few neighbourhoods that can compete with the best of London and NYC for "electric" atmosphere. It's been quite apparent for about a year now. In a few years, we'll just have more such neighbourhoods to enjoy. If they increase the # of bike lanes, trees, add more street furniture and make sidewalks wider in our major thoroughfares, it will just take things to the next level.

Nyguy meanwhile has left the 2WTC thread in "construction" despite it being on hold for years.. I've pointed it out several times and gotten similarly snarky responses.

^Yeah, it looks particularly bad in that picture. In person it's seemed pretty nice when I have gone by, although maybe not quite the quality I'd hoped for.

Nice is nice but, I don't see any issue with someone being to the point. Sure rules are unknown or forgotten but, it's ignorant and self centred to recreate a thread after a moderator or adminstrator has closed the previous one. Speaking of nice, even you must now agree it wasn't nice to post a PM on the general forum just because it ruffled some very loose feathers. I've had arguments with staff before. I'm sure we all have.

http://www.costar.com/News/Article/D...y-Hotel/195813

Quote:
The developer behind what would be the tallest residential building in Canada has decided to scale back plans for 10 floors of retail and bring in a luxury hotel, CoStar News can report.

Sam Mizrahi, president of Mizrahi Developments, confirmed that The One project, slated to be completed as early as 2022 at the southwest corner of Bloor and Yonge streets where Toronto's two main subway lines meet, plans to pivot from his initial retail plans to take advantage of the hot market for luxury hotels. Some observers had previously questioned the project's plans to include 10 stories of retail over the conventional wisdom that the market would embrace shopping on a vertical basis.

"It's correct we will have a hotel in there," said Mizrahi, who said he has a signed deal with a hotelier but declined to identify the firm citing confidentiality agreements. He did say the hotel brand does not currently operate in Canada.

The hotel at The One will include 175 guestrooms and occupy 10 floors plus an additional floor for a lobby, but Mizrahi said the ground floor of the tower will still include a major retail tenant. While local reports have linked the space with Apple Inc., Mizrahi would not confirm the maker of the ubiquitous iPhone has a deal in place. However, sources indicate that Apple has agreed to open a retail location in the building subject to certain construction deadlines being met.

"There is still a lot of retail. We have the major anchor ground floor retailer, along with the concourse, which is connected as one. There is retail above that and then there will be another two floors of retail above that," said Mizrahi about the five floors of retail space planned in the massive project, which have been whittled down from 10. "(Scaling back the retail) just made a lot of sense for the synergy and the adjacencies of the tenants on the site and what we were doing to put in a boutique luxury hotel into the mix."

Stantec is 1/2 way up or ~125.5m and just poured the transition double slab to now swap to the residential tower component. I recently saw the lighting proposal for the tower/district and it will really accentuate the verticality and fins.

Media event Friday to celebrate the milestone. The Tenant work starts in Dec.

Oliers TV was up filming the the slab pour, and there are other media projects in the works to show off Both towers.
