What city it comes down to will I think come down to fit on the part of Amazon.
It's not going to be Austin. It's just not.
I say us or Atlanta, and if the Atlanta bid was as bad as their video, I can't help but think it's us. Add to that Atlanta's lack of public transportation and our blue(er) politics, it just feels like it's us.
Chicago is too far west and Boston is too isolated in the NE.

The issue here is that red states, namely Texas, tend to be kinder to business than blue states. If they're going to a solid blue state like Massachusetts or New York, they can expect to run into every problem they have with Washington.
Chicago is not too far west. Chicago is a very real contender. If Chicago's too far west, all of Texas is out by default. Austin is "hip" enough, but I doubt they have what it really takes for a project that big. I don't think they're that big a contender.

Yeah, but that shouldn't be a problem as most of the cities in Texas and the area around Atlanta are at least fairly blue. They may want want a blue state, which may cause difficulties for Austin and Dallas. In that regard, that may play to our advantage. PA may have voted Republican in 2016, but we're still a swing state. It's not red enough that we'll do anything for businesses, but not blue enough to have everything Amazon's getting away from in WA.

I had assumed that Harvey/Irma had wiped away Houston's/Miami's chances of getting it. I'd say the most likely Texan candidate is either Austin or Dallas.
