I said my peace. I'm going to continue doing what I always intended to do on this board.

I hope this thread can get back to the actual subject matter now. Downtown Updates.

If anyone wants to talk RC, go to the RC thread and post there or DM me your questions. If anyone wants to attack me, also slide into my DM's. Enough of posting this negative crap in this thread and on the board in general.

Hi Hamilton23, Just wondering how this will work and what the distance will be from the current Connaught. As there are windows on that side of the Connaught, will they be staring at a building?

Hey, there will be a significant distance between Phase 2 and 3. We're actually working on a piazza with a restaurant on the side of Phase 2, so there will be a pretty large distance separating the two.

It will be going up in the middle of the parking lot on Catherine/King St's. If you're in the area and can see the parking lot, you can envision the space between the two buildings.

Can you say what kind of restaurant this will be?

It will be a high end restaurant. I can't say what kind of cuisine or what it will be just yet though. The space is incredible. Ceiling height is 45 feet and the space itself is about 8000 sq ft, not including the outdoor piazza area.

We're all happy about the RC. But get over yourself.

Now let's get back to a more productive discourse.
This post is embarrassing on so many different levels, not to mention baiting and instigating trouble. You my friend are delusional..

I'm really surprised no temp bans have been handed out over this shit yet. The mods are way more relaxed than I would be.

That's actually why I joined this board initially. I was told by people that someone was spreading lies online. After I joined, I realized how it was kind of cool to bridge the gap between developer and the public. I began sharing information about the project, answering questions, etc. I enjoy most of the conversations and i've met some cool people on here.

Most of the board has been very nice and normal lol. I'm all for criticism and debate .We live in a free country. I exercise my freedom of speech as much as the next person. However, there is a fine line between criticism and slander. A smart person knows the difference. There have been multiple people on this board who have expressed their criticisms. I will rarely respond to those, because they're intelligent, unbiased and most importantly, free of malice.

For example, you've made it known you didn't like the additions on the Connaught. Did you and I ever engage in a war of words or back and forth? No, because you stated you opinion like a normal person, I responded normally and we moved on.

David has a personal vendetta against the project. He's been involved with Police and lawyers multiple times, which in turn, has led to him either mocking responses I make on the board, or piling on when others make criticisms of the Connaught in order to annoy me. It's his 'M-O' and it's sad and obvious.

I'll say it again, this is a person who has harassed and attempted assault on our property.

I'm happy to stay on the board and providing updates on the Connaught, clarifying falsehoods, answering questions by posters, etc. I'm also fine leaving the board.

I think David and his buddy should stop hijacking the downtown thread though and they can either DM me directly, or post on the respected thread.

I hate to take away from the general Downtown Discussion. I literally complimented an article posted in this thread one week ago, while asking why the RC wasn't included. I was told the reason why it wasn't included and moved on. I guess others on this board haven't.
I know man, and believe me, we are happy having you here to clarify mistakes. I've brought this site to some other developers attention too and they were happy to provide concrete fact so that everyone didn't have to speculate - the people at kings and queens gallery lounge for example.

I've been where you are man, where people slander you and you simply want to defend your stance and move on but they keep pushing and you keep feeling the need to respond. Unfortunately to others to them it then feels to them like you are continuing the problem.

What I had to learn was that there was enough of my discussion in the wake of such discussions to prove my point without me having to repeat it constantly. We are behind you man, haters gonna hate.

The internet seems to bring out the worst in all of us unfortunately..

I also agree with everyone else- let's get this discussion back on track - technically this was still related to downtown updates lol - might be the reason no temp bans were given

I appreciate your updates and opinion Hamilton23.....and I understand your need to respond to people like david in a civil argument. I feel like the last few pages have been really dragged out with this whole....thing but I know it's not any of your faults entirely.

Back to the Royal Connaught, I'm glad to hear of the plaza that will separate phase 2 and 3, it'll promote a pedestrian friendly area which will be right in the vicinity of Gore Park. I honestly can't imagine the third phase from when I was in Gore Park before. It'll have a huge presence in the area of King and James.

that does bring up something important though, what are the elements that make a downtown core city-ish?

you got your commercial skyscrapers, you got your condo skyscrapers, you have your houses, you have your small little mom and pop shops, you have your central square, with fountain, you have your parks, you have your restaurants, you have your bars...

aaand you have your entertainment - something I feel hamilton is sorely lacking in a centralized easy to access place. Heck I don't even know what happens in the city most of the time.

I know a lot of bands and stuff happen in the downtown core, and in gage park.. I just wish the downtown had a little more to offer other than eating and drinking.

I'd love to see some sort of giant mega entertainment complex somewhere downtown.

Everywhere that is entertainy is all outside the city.. african lion safari, aquarium (toronto) wonderland (vaughan), casino (niagara, brantford), horse races (flamborough), most theatres (suburbs of hamilton), gardens (outskirts of hamilton and burlington)

So what should be in the downtown core for all of these people, with all of this money, to do once we cram them into the downtown core? People are gonna get sick of just eating and drinking, I know I do.

I'd love to have an aquarium in hamilton personally.

Any ideas?

I believe it opened recently. I was in there and saw a sign saying "Now Open Thunder Alley" but didn't see it. Probably on the lower floor.

An NHL team would be amazing. I hope in my lifetime I can witness that happening.

I think another cool idea is a cineplex with multiple theatres, including IMAX, AVX, VIP, etc. I'm thinking similar to the one in Yonge/Dundas in Toronto. There's room for something like that Downtown.

I think that would be a nice step forward for families and those who don't just wanna drink or go out for dinner downtown.

the art gallery is beautiful.... maybe a nice museum ...to show off some of Hamilton's history and other artifacts..... the Jackson square cinemas are nice but they really should have a main entrance off of King street lit up .....and aquarium by the water front would be amazing too.
even something as simple as a nice shoppers drug mart would be nice
