That's bad, yeah. We've got a lot of shit like that too - unfortunately, even as core infill.

You could stand on the roof of any of these, shit, and nearly hit downtown.

Someone needs to make a spoof of the Newfoundland tourism videos, but with all the horrible sights instead of the pretty ones.

Don't let the plastic columns fool you. That's one flat wall for the length of the building, complete with Fredericton-standard plastic siding, idiotic fake window keystones, gravel driveways, and mini-pediment protrusions coming out above the front doors.
People loved them so much that 4 out of 9 were for sale at the time. Not sure if they had just been built or not.

I love that he (Telegram reporter) doesn't fuck around. He writes articles using the collective we, meaning Newfoundlanders, so he's not afraid to do that. And he calls out this sort of thing all the time:

(His backwards E is a reference to the just announced St. John's Edge basketball team, which uses one. He's funny not weird lol)

Is it really a brothel? I thought they only had those in Nevada. Or is it a rub and tug?

A comparable row in Kitchener would be further embellished by putting all the hydro meters together on the side of the end unit facing the street. It is quite special.

I see a few elements of fugliness but if the setback was slightly reduced and there wasn't that stupidly done concrete driveway thing in the front, I'd call this a fairly attractive townhouse compared to some of the garbage built nowadays in the GTA that's faux and wealthy-looking. Now that I think abot it....if Brampton had a lot more of this kind of design in it's newer development, it would look fairly interesting.....and a bit more functional IMO in it's neighbourhoods.

I raise you with a Black Star level of ugliness:

tronalddump'srectum

9.7 on the clocktower scale of fugliness (max value of 10, heretofore only achieved by Clockzilla, MissingSausage City Hall, that ugly clocktower in New Zealand, Nickelback, Ben Mulroney [for sheer unctuousness] and Ezra Levant. And Dr. James Sears).

Of note here; these are individually owned (I think), so most or all have been altered from the 70s original, (mostly no improvement, except in allowing owners to customize). Most of the garages have been converted, forcing outside parking, something that is curiously popular in Newfoundland.

Went to Signal Hill this morning to get some pictures of the fall colours in sun. Of course, the clouds rolled in before I got to the top.

Waited probably 30 minutes. One single sunspot appeared.

You know, also coming from an overcast place, I actually find that I can't take too much sun at a time. In the summer in Vancouver it's sunny basically 4 months straight, and towards the end of it I just can't stand it. Everything's bright and it's just too stimulating; I actually get tired. But I never feel an overcast sky is oppressive, it's calm and neutral.

I think a certain American president would score an 11 at least.

Betcha the guy and his wife/girlfriend are both about 5 foot 3. (Not that I have anything against shorter people, but it always looks ridiculous to see people not so tall trying to climb into these gigantic vehicles.)

I've been meaning to post this here for a while. This literally drives me crazy. The tiles are at different angles. This building is either incredibly shoddily built and not square or the trades who tiled it fucked up.
