I agree, the stars seem aligned for HBC to do some more in-Canada growth. On the one hand they haven't really done that much lately; but on the other hand, with their main competitor closing up and leaving some prime realestate space open, this is a good time to do so.

Moncton is in a great position to get a Bay. Freddy and SJ are also in decent positions to get new stores as well (Freddy is a slightly better chance than SJ I think).

Yes on Metropolitan because my mom worked there until it closed then moved to the Moncton Mall location. I do not remember the Creaghan Store being downtown I do think there was one on St George. as for Miltons diner Wasn't that at the Crown plaza building?

Milton's was across from Eaton's, but there was another diner that looked just like it at the corner of Bonnaccord and Main.

That's probably what it was. As I said previously I do get mixed once in a while I get the locations near by but mix different but similar businesses.

That's good news. Isn't it Lululemon Athletica that was supposed to open up at Plaza Blvd a few years ago?

Sears Canada is going out of business

It's official Sears Canada will close all remaining stores and 12 000 jobs will be lost. The writing was on the wall.

I was at Champlain, and they are having there Liquidation/out of business sale. If it is the way I understood it CF Champlain has a Tenant looking to move in but unfortunately major work needs to be done in the Sears Store before any tenant can move in CF are still looking at a single tenant for the old Sears garage.

I'm wondering because there where talks in the grape vine about Canadian Tire taking over, and having there Garage part in The old Sears garage, and Canadian Tire Store in the main Building. It would be a massively larger store, and give them quite a bit more parking spaces as well.

I don't find it logical to think of crappie tire as part of CF Champlain I would think that the Hudson Bay Company would be a logical fit to the mix at the mall. And personaly I would like to see a revamped offering of stores in the mall and I think with the Hudson bay company in the mall it would increase foot traffic to that area of the mall. But only time will tell and I think it's an evolution in the way people shop.

It would be nice to think that CF Champlain has been proactively looking for a replacement for Sears (the writing has been on the wall for several years after all). I agree with you that Canadian Tire is not an acceptable option, and given CF Champlain's pretentions of being a "fashion mall", I doubt that they would consider this.

I think the Sears space will either:
1) - become HBC
2) - become Simons
3) - be broken up to accommodate several smaller retailers, possibly including a couple of smaller anchors like F21 and Zara.

I really think Cadillac Fairview does have something up their sleeve. This space will not remain vacant for long. It could even be part of a larger mall revamp........

HBC at Sears, and I'm not sure if it was a plan or not but There where plans of the mall with the old Future Shop (Now Linen Chest, an Urban Planet), and the Sports Chek Moved out to make way for a larger scale store Simons could always be that store Since the CT is always trying to keep there business holdings together from what I've seen anyway. as for UP/UPK they could always demolish the old Sears Garage, and either move them there or play store roulette, and move others there, and join stores together to fit UP/UPK.

The plans for Sobeys still seem to be in the air as well so might be another opening there.

Speaking of Sobey's in Dieppe, they seem a tad late building their Dieppe Boulevard Sobey's/Co-op. Like at least a year late.

I wonder if Sobeys' financial issues are causing them to delay the store opening. I would think this location would be guaranteed busy, the current CO-OP is always very busy and a really inferior store compared to the proposed IGA extra.

This doesn't make any God d*amn sense...

Okay this has been bugging me for a while. Please work on your grammar and sentence structure when you post. Also please try to make sense and have some actual substance to your posts. Urban Planet & Sportchek are not moving anywhere and I very highly doubt there ever was a plan to consolidate both spaces together. It's okay to speculate, like Canadian Tire moving to Sears, but don't just make crazy stuff up and say you heard there previously was plans for whatever it is that you made up. I feel like you do this often.

I'm sorry to come across as harsh but seriously...

To make the mall a true fashions mall it would take Sobeys to move out and revamp thaty area of the mall it doesn't make sense having Sobeys within less than a KM from each other. One more point Simons will go to the Halifax shopping center before CF Champlain unless Cadilac Fairview has better negotiating powers than the leasing company that has the HSC. Only time will tell. But all I am hoping down the road we will have a Hollister in New Brunswick. But time will tell on whats going to Happen.

I really like these little shops and boutiques opening downtown, we have several places to eat, pubs and coffee shops already. Main Street is looking better than ever. I wish it was busier outside business hours and places would be open later. This will happen once we have more residential developments downtown, which are coming.

Not only is it looking better, I have heard from sources downtown, that places like stile are actually doing better now than they were before. Also where is the lingerie store located on main? I thought it was next to stile.
