Spotted using a pedestrian overpass at the Tuscany LRT station in Calgary at 3am this morning...

I guess that it's not going to end up being as "fair" as that.
They just announced a deal today that would result in people transferring between GO and TTC getting $1.50 off the fare for the second agency they take as part of their trip; so someone who takes GO and then transfers onto TTC would pay $1.50 less than the full fare for that TTC trip; and vice versa for people transferring from TTC onto GO. This applies to the Pearson Airport train as well.

The cost of this arrangement is being fully covered by the Ontario government so the TTC will not pay for any of it.

That's awesome - it's win-win then for Toronto and the region

Please take a look at your own post history - you just called another forumer's posts "fucking pathetic and stupid", which was totally uncalled for in the conversation.
Put it this way, do you think you could ever go to an SSP meet-up with the things you say to others?
You can believe whatever you want. I explained my reasoning. You're my harshest critic. I couldn't even convince you the sky is blue for crying out loud!

The fucking pathetic and stupid comment was warranted to the Calgary poster that assumed I was taking a pot shot at Calgary due to my Toronto address. Homerism is a cancer on the forum. I don't really care if my stern, unapologetic words hurt some sensibilities.

Awesome pictures of the moose! You really do feel like you're almost in the wilderness out in Tuscany sometimes, and I'm not kidding! Seeing the prairie grass so close is pretty cool.

Paraphrased from Markster on the UT forums:

Update from 4 October on the ION LRT in KW: the first time the ION LRT has pulled up to a platform - on-track testing begins in approximately one week.

Can someone please help me understand why the future EC will be paart of the TTC subway map, but others, like ST Clair, or Spadina aren't? What is the major difference between the the 2?

The streetcar lines of St. Clair and Spadina Ave (or Lakeshore or Dundas or College etc) aren't marked on subway maps because they don't function like a subway even though they have similarities.

However, the Eglinton Crosstown will function more as a combination of a streetcar and a subway....with a long underground stretch in the busier areas and more of a streetcar ROW in the more suburban stretches. The vehicles will hold more than an regular streetcar and the underground stations in the line will be very similar to a subway.....heck the Yonge and Eglinton subway station will be the largest in Toronto's transit system. The EC vehicles are going to be brand new, and only for the EC. Also, the EC connects will the Scarborough and YUS lines, improving transit with something more useful than a streetcar line on the surface of Eglinton. (Explanation may suck.....oh well)

Well, the Queen's Quay section of the Spadina is underground. At the top end, it is also underground and connects with both Lines 1 and 2.

The street cars are new....

It annoys me when one is called RT and the other isn't.

Yea, it's annoying. Their are a lot of new features that set this project apart from a streetcar line, especially since this goes across the city.

A lot of people tend to ignore the streetcar system when talking about the city with the most RT. It makes Toronto's look sad and pitiful. Where as, once the REM in Montreal is built, it will equal Toronto.

The streetcar has many local stops, while LRT runs express with fewer stops. Therefore, even if a streetcar has dedicated lanes, if it frequent stops it is still a streetcar.

It's the same way how a bus that stops every 200 metres is still a local bus, not express or BRT, even if travels in an exclusive bus lane.

Edit: So just because it's on rails doesn't make it rapid transit.

That's because streetcars are by far the worst form of public transportation. They are basically buses that can't swerve around to avoid an obstruction or change route if there is construction etc.

Metro>rapid LRT (Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa...)>BRT>Express buses>horse and carriage>>>>streetcars
