Thanks for posting, it looks fantastic! In person it almost feels like being in a new upscale retail store before they add the shelves/clothes/etc. Great execution of materials. The tiles up on the platform level look really outdated now.

Here are a couple of my pics from last night:

Nice photo shoots! The station house looks great at night. There is a lot more lighting used when compared to the old west station house.

Also in one of the pics, there is a compass card reader outside the Bike Parkade. How is that being used?

You use your compass card to pay and get in to the bike locker

The Joyce Station upgrade looks really good. It almost feels like a whole new team of designers built this. The general aesthetics depart a great deal from the other renovated stations'. One very noticeable change that adds to its attractiveness is the use of dark-coloured frames instead of the traditional white for the doorways and windows.

That's good and bad.
I actually made a random inquiry with TransLink back in the spring regarding what their conditions are for third parties operating vending devices within stations. Stuff like dry food and Automat operations.
Apparently Pepsi holds a contract to exclusively operate vending machines in the system right now, so until that agreement expires nobody else without exception is allowed to install their own franchise of machines without — Pepsi off. Likewise Pepsi doesn't seem to be rushing to install more machines because their machines are so infrequently used. Might possibly be because their large machines can only fit in out-of-the-way locations in a system that has rapidly become contactless for payments, so not many people have $2.50 in their pocket for a small bottle.

The architecture firm that did Joyce Station is OMB. They are also doing Surrey Central.

New stationhouse looks great--thank you for posting photos!!

My only question is, how will passenger flow work when one (or more) of the escalators is out of service? Will everyone going down have to use the west stationhouse? What if that stationhouse is under construction? Or, is there a stairwell in the new east stationhouse that I'm missing?

Strange that their acronym would include the "Office of". Maybe it was a play on the Ontario Municipal Board acronym.

Thanks, they should do more stations.

The Expo line needs to be propelled to the 21st century.

These OMB designs have a proper metro station feel. Best upgrades so far. Compare them to the barebones glass box of the newly opened Metrotown station west station house.

I really really really don't like the glass gate on the edge. I think it's a really inefficient use of space that can fit an extra faregate.

It's probably required for access if the faregates have a system failure.

Shouldn't the faregates have a failsafe design where they unlock at the event of a system failure?

... or maybe if they close the gates / close the station access, but TransLink workers need to get through.
(i.e. keep it simple versus programming special access cards for TransLink workers?)
