Small note on the trolley wires, which have been taken out to accomodate operations and as a result, have turned the 9 into a diesel bus service (though I wonder how long ago they were taken out)

They had all the steel laid out in the far right lane today getting assembled. And the staging/storage area seems to be out next to the VCC Millenium Line station?

The staging area for a lot of the steel was in the train yards near VCC-Clark, and they would load it up onto a rail car and drive it along the tracks through the cut until it was right below Commercial station.

Commercial - Broadway. I noticed that the crane (when not in use) can be turned and the support arm retracted so that it only takes up one lane on the road. The superstructure above Shoppers is largely in place now.

The yellow crane at Commercial - Broadway was nowhere to be seen yesterday when I took these pics about 3:00 PM.

The new Joyce station east station house is almost completed.
From what I can see, there is only a few tasks outstanding. Workers were doing some final touch painting a few days ago.
May be it will be opened on or before Oct. 6?

I guess they can't do anything until the full road closure this weekend.

Broadway Commercial Station September 30th

I was down at Commercial at roughly 4 pm today, so I made sure to grab some shots. Apparently the big lift will start at 2 am tonight, which makes sense, as that's after Skytrain shuts down. I'm not sure if I have it in me to head down for that so late, but maybe?

What a zoo. Did you see somebody up on the bridge taking pictures?

I also took some pics of a vehicle that decided to make the pedestrian/cyclist only area on 10th Avenue his own private detour (last pic). He just drove over the barriers at each end and forced people out of his way so he could get to the Safeway parking lot. I reported it to a traffic cop there and they looked at my pics and took some info and went to find him.

Pics by me last night @about 11:00pm til the lift was done at about 11:15pm
happened to stop by the Safeway to pick up some groceries.

They "inserted" the south end into the new building, then aligned the north end and moved the bridge northwards to abut the north end.

Nice shots. It's good to see such "concrete" signs of progress on this long project.

Thanks for the photos! That east entrance looks fantastic. It's amazing how much larger that makes the station look. Surrey Central's new north house should have a similar feel.

What a difference these materials have over the 80's metal grates.

Thanks!

That change in floorsing stands out - but I guess it's cheaper (or did someone mention it'll be raplaced in a later phase?)

Vending machines (like the Pepsi one) are a good alternative to actual storefronts.
