By golly I think they are. Maybe the strategy was to install the first rows to see how they did before they put more in. Obviously the first rows did very well. Looking forward to much more green on that wall.

I've heard that the first set was supposed to be the whole project, until someone senior at Telus saw the results and asked for the increase in scope.

Looks like the plants are struggling to stay healthy

I went to Glowbal last week on one of the rain storm days. The amount of water dripping from the fancy canopy onto that glass floor along Georgia looked like a major slip and fall hazard.

I think the glass is textured so as to be non-slippery when wet. The issue I saw way back when the canopy was first installed was the wall of water onto the plaza that it creates in even a light rain or drizzle. There are no gutters on the outer edge of the canopy so it just pours directly onto the plaza where people come and go. Here's a post from a couple of years ago...

I think they're just deciduous plants.

There were some vines on steel frames on the podium of the Waterworks Building (Cambie & Nelson) - and they were/are deciduous too.
In winter they just look like a tangle of twigs, then sprout to life in the spring.

Likewise, the passion flowers and clematis at Yaletown Park trellises are also deciduous.

There's not even any steel trim/edging on the glass on that side of the canopy.
That alone would direct water in light rain to the Seymour and Richards corners of the canopy.

They need to install edging and add a "rain chain" to the corners of the awning to direct water to the sidewalk.
The rain chain need not reach the ground.
