^ All of the speculation and idle chatter in this thread is just filling a vacuum of non-activity on this project. The negativity will fade away if and when construction begins. That part is up to Fortress and its partners.

Let's see what happens. I would love to see this in our skyline.

.
What agenda can we possibly have? I could actually argue that the members who ignore the history of Fortress, and want this built regardless of the potential for a negative outcome, are the ones with an agenda. They are insensitive to local investors, who could conceivably lose massive amounts of personal assets, and possibly their life savings.

People who hope to see it to completion are the ones insensitive to local investors and those that hope it fails aren't? OK.............

Some people on this thread are just curious about seeing this project potentially going up, like myself. I don't see how we're "insensitive" to investors and buyers of the property if we just have a slight hope in seeing this project go up. I'm an optimist, yet I do understand there's a shaky foundation that Fortress lays on in terms of their past...which supposedly continues to haunt them to this day. Sure, Fortress has allegations thrown to it and there are senior members with a iffy history in terms of "honest business", but it's not like every time Fortress has proposed a project it turns into a scam....

I'm no expert in real estate (except a little from Monopoly or SSP)...but I have some fair doubts this project is going to turn into a scam or be canned anytime. Fortress has invested all this time and money into renderings, a website, talks with the city, going through planning..just as they have for projects like the Harlowe and others....

Here's a spoiler:

It's never going to get built. You can hope and dream that SkyCity is completed, but you are just fooling yourself. It's never going to happen, just like Capital Pointe in Regina.

The sooner you accept the inevitable, the better.

If this project really was nothing more than a scam, wouldn't someone have stepped in by now to put an end to it? Securities commission, RCMP, Manitoba consumer affairs... all of them seem to be OK enough with things to let the developer keep doing its thing.
WPS would be involved not the RCMP. That would be a criminal matter. Hard to prove I would imagine. Being bad at real estate is not criminal.

The Consumer Protection Office would not have jurisdiction over this type of project.

The Securities Commission could but I do not know.

I wish fortress would take over Dreamscape , for sure it would get built then.

I am not really sure which part of the article you have linked is part of your commentary?

The non-Manitoban regulating body?

The apparently non inherently illegal nature of syndicated mortgages?

Or

The allegations against the developer in a different province that do not appear to have been proven in court?

Thank God for Capitol Pointe in Regina. If Fortress had never been involved with it, this forum would only be on page 36 now, instead of 156. Yay negativity! (sarcasm)

Big fan of this project, the views look unreal. A SkyCity penthouse view would be pretty amazing too.

A small victory for Fortress:

Ontario Superior Court Strikes Statements of Claim in Proposed Class Actions Against Fortress Real Developments Inc. and Other Defendants

This doesn't end those actions, but it's a setback for them.

Wow, wasn't even worthy of hearing the case. Not only a victory, but awarded them costs as well. Hopefully they put those lawyers fees into SkyCity!

2) As the original states at the bottom: SOURCE Fortress Real Developments.

So the "story" is written by Fortress itself. Folks who - when ordered by the court to pay $3 million to "investor victims" for their unlawful activity and banned from trading in securities for the next 15 years - spun it as "There was no findings of guilt or wrongdoing or anything else like that, so we are happy to have made a settlement on that non-related business."

Sorry.

We always need to be aware of what source the "news" is coming from. Even when watching networks like CTV, Global, etc. They all have a certain spin. I don't think it's as bad as in the states with CNN, Fox, etc. But someone owns those news stations, usually rich people, who have agendas to keep in manipulating the public and the government. Remember the government is made up of people like you and me, usually rich ones, who have money to make. Especially federal politics. My rant for the day is over.
