Just look at that awesomely creepy thing (it's super cool up close). Before development it looked like some sort of post-apocalyptic dystopia:

I'm fairly certain looking at that photo that they used that for John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness. Super creepy film. That mainstreet is nightmare inducing.

Yeah I wouldn't want to live in Cathedraltown simply because it's pretty clear that's where the End Times begin.

Imagine looking out your back window and seeing this:

Which came first..the church or the faux new urbanism? The church driveway looks half finished.

Even those townhouses across the street look apocalyptic. What a creepy place. Even the name. It sounds like it belongs in the same sentence as Jones Town

Cathedral High Street is on a next level creepy mixed with outstanding blandness.

I mean, does this not look straight out of a movie about a totalitarian society in the future? Or some creepy evil village?

The Cathedral (actually consecrated by the Pope!) was built well before - it started in the mid 80s and closed in 2006. At the time it was basically in the middle of the field. Supposed to be reopening soon though.

Positively Lavalesque, but smack dab in Montreal (Anjou).

In other news, Hanna (Alberta) is mulling whether to erect a giant statue of Chad Kroeger at the intersection of Fox Lake Trail and Pioneer Trail.

Aaahhhhhhhhhh!!!! Absolutely. That will haunt my dreams.

Kinda reminds me of the surreal artwork of Beksinski.

'A little bit of it is jealousy': Alberta town proud of Nickelback despite haters

I bet that some residents are only 4% behind their hometown zeros.

Watch out Okotoks. There are a number of things to do in Hanna.

If happen to go to Hannah, here's some sights:

Check out the Nickelback murals throughout Hanna.
Visit the The Hanna Pioneer Village and Museum, which includes a full block of historic buildings filled with antiques and turn-of-the-century artifacts.
The Doll Palace Museum opened in 1993 and has a collection of more than 3,000 dolls in an array of different styles, sizes and shapes.

For a new build started in the 80's it's quite impressive. I would have thought it was older. Still creepy AF though.

It's new urbanism that forgot its new urbanism. The beige colour palette and architectural designs are as banal as any anonymous subdivision from the 1980s and 1990s.

Yikes! I thought the mayor of Hanna was a criminal doing a jailhouse interview. It even looks like he's wearing the orange fatigues.

Not orange fatigues, but orange pajamas.

Pajamas in Hanna.
