See below. EEDC is going in 2 different directions. EEDC ned to focus on economic development - like wining massive new Whirlpool Distribution centre that Calgary won and we did not. Not sure we were even in the running or knew about it. That should be the single mandate they have. Let some Regional Group look after tourism and convention like every other major City.

This goes to Council today in Edmonton, non-support from planning due to a lack of setback from the low-rise to the one side.

My guess is turned down.

^I think it's pretty 50/50. Many councillors are not that sophisticated. Depends on how much sway the applicant has. I think there will be lots of discussion from some councillors to see if going back to admin for tweaks will satisfy the concerns.

Don't get me wrong, I think it should be turned down personally.

You know, what if they offered to so sort of tile mosaic art installation on the wall facing the building...combined vines or something...
There are ways to dress that up, but I doubt it files.

Absolutely! Townhomes without a tower above are needed too; giving residents a small backyard will attract more people.

Feels like Symphony is going up real fast now. This tower is going to be a great addition to the skyline from the South. An area that hasn't changed for quite some time.

That picture only serves to remind me what a dumpster fire CCM has become. That hotel wart on top only adds to the 🞵🞵🞵 meter. If I owned CCM, I'd build Delta a new tower elsewhere on the site and then get rid of that existing open sore.

Would love to see the the whole thing re-skinned in Smoked black glass or even Green living wall panels and transparent glass... Or recreate the old Eatons and Woodwards Facades with modernist neutrality... Anything but the overbearingly brutalist pre-cast concrete bunker look that still stands...
