Hey man, the Subway on Water Street (near George) was the very first Subway in Canada. It's historic! It's also the one some dude tried to stab me and my friends at.

That image is so perfectly terrible as to appear fake. It's almost artistic in its' badness. And then you pan to the right and are assaulted by that commie block with random colours to make it "cheerier" that looks straight out of a Neil Blomkamp movie's futuristic ghetto. Then you look down and notice the fence with a mural depicting early 1900's life to add a surreal twist. Completing this scene of things that are dead and gone you have two pay phones.

Venturing in the other direction you have an entire block's worth of shitty beige stucco Waterloo style apartments.

This is truly so awful it's amazing. Where is this?

Lol! Thanks for trying to explain but I'm even more confused now. In any case it sounds even worse than Calgary's notorious "Crack Mac's".

The Subway at Abbotsfield (Edmonton)has some stories. I had an old co-worker there eat there and he was sitting, looking outside. And in front of him he's watching a beatdown with two-by-fours and other improvised melee weapons. He sat there aghast and ate.

These posts had me vaguely recalling a coffee/donut shop on Church St in Toronto, much favoured back in the day by hookers, pimps and sales representatives of the illicit substances industry. I went on line to see if it's still there - couldn't find it but discovered that there's a "Glory Hole Doughnuts" on Queen W! I don't even know what to say!

I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure I can point them out if supplied with a view of the city from the "classic" angle that prominently shows the Basilica and Rooms, as that's how I know they exist.

There's no great areas around Toronto's Pearson Airport, but it's certainly interesting to see that a tired office building (which sort of towers around it's surroundings) continues to bear the logo of the former BMO bank logo. This is easily a 5-10 minute drive from the airport, an area rife with dumpier lowrise industrial businesses and commercial zoning.

An interesting view on how a promoter's willingness to invest in a project can change an entire urban setting.

I present to you the former site of the Cartierville Airport, in the middle of the island of Montreal. Same site redevelopped by three promoters (two are working together in the Bois-Franc area). It's pretty well located, near a current commuter rail station (and future REM station).

Yeah, there's lots. Basically everything from this angle except three of the taller buildings and the rowhouses is hideous.

Sometimes I like how dominant Moncton's tallest is, but most of the time I'm slightly embarrassed that it's the centrepiece of our city centre.

There's nothing I hate more than a high rise with one side devoid of windows or any other features, just one big blank monstrosity! This should never be approved by any city, for any reason!
We have a 22 story riverfront hotel here in Windsor like this where the back side not facing the river is just brick from top to bottom, so ugly!

Probably the Second Cup at Church and Wellesley. The store was recessed into the building with steps leading up to it. These steps were a very popular gathering place. They have been built over.
