This is like my grandmother, who's mental map seems to have been locked in place about 25 years ago. She still asks me where stuff is in relation to things that no longer exist.
"Is that near the Woodward's?"

New Brunswickers are notorious for this. There's a building on Main St in Fredericton everyone still calls the "old Canadian Tire" even though they moved out 10 years ago. Half the city still calls the walking bridge the "train bridge" even though it hasn't seen a train since the 90s.
Last year, a friend of mine got into an argument with an old lady over whether or not she could remember Kresges. The old lady (a chain smoker) insisted that she couldn't possibly remember Kresges.
She can't have been all that old if she couldn't remember a chain that operated until what, about 25 years ago? Perhaps the chain smoking had rotted her brain....
The Kresges we were sitting across from closed in the early-1980s. It was replaced by a K-Mart around that time, which later became a Zellers and now is a Walmart.
ok the mystery is solved. I couldn't match the power-plant-like smokestacks to the strange stilty thing, but it now makes sense (cooling/condenser coils). Still fugly. Across the street is a prison, and next door, just upwind to the prison, some bad-assed insulation factory. Aerial of the prison on right.

Speaking of cooling, I just wrote my 2nd year provincial exam for a/c-refrigeration mechanic and it was ugly! Barely eaked out a pass on it thanks to the heating section destroying me! But happy to say I'm officially a 3rd year apprentice now!
