Construction starts on $2 Billion Bay St. bus terminal and office complex
New GO Transit bus station on Bay St. will replace existing facility, which is aging and at capacity.
It's funny the terminal being replaced is almost new but they are calling it aging. It is way to small though.

I'm going to miss the Toronto Coach Terminal. It was one of the last throwbacks to the era of gritty urbanism, with dirty, noisy buses jostling with taxicabs on little sidestreets and the flurry of activity around it at all hours of the day. The location also couldn't be beat. You were within a 15 minute walk of all the hospitals, U of T, Ryerson, the Eaton Centre, etc. Given the destinations that most intercity coach travelers are trying to reach, it was very convenient.
It makes sense to consolidate the city's intercity and regional transportation centre in one hub, though, and the location will be a lot easier for bus drivers to access.
Oh, I have many fond (OK, maybe not so fond) memories of waiting for the midnight bus to Ottawa in that building!
Yea...I gotta wonder what they'll do with the Bay Dundas site. I also wonder if Greyhound will continue to use that space. As of now, it's not a great place to wait for a bus, although it has it's quaintness in the interior at least.
Let's hope its stays in the public rather than sold for another condo tower. A market or event space would be great for the heritage terminal building. The rest can be much needed open space.

No construction timeline but Administration will be returning to Council in Q1 2018 with details on tendering.

Queens Quay photographs well but it is still a mess of a street. The street is a victim of being overplanned, too many chiefs at the table to figure out that street.
I do like the bike path though.. when joggers.. or people are not walking aimlessly into it.
What strikes me in this picture is that the streetcars are waiting for the cars to turn in front of them. Shouldn't it be the other way around (i.e. streetcars having the priority)?
