A brainstorm during a rainstorm pushed the once-unthinkable Mosaic Stadium project over the goal line.
While driving to Regina later that day, Cheveldayoff had a hands-free telephone conversation with Wall.
“I remember letting him know that I think we had come to an agreement,” Cheveldayoff says. “He was quite excited about it as well. It was a special time, a special day.”
All because of a breakthrough proposal regarding the $100 million.
“It was really the driving force that brought the whole thing down and said,‘ Well, we can do this,’ ” Brandvold says. “Then it took some time for everybody to play those numbers through and figure out the final conclusions. Then it was the final moment of saying,‘This is doable.’
