That web site is a mess.. they don't even have a store locator. Any company with a site like that in 2017 does not deserve to be in business.

And then there's this...
http://fritou.com/en/getting_started.html
An average Canadian household goes to the restaurant or eats fast-food at least 520 times in a year and chicken is Canadians’ preferred meat.

Goes to a restaurant or eats fast food 520 times a year?! uh.....

Ron.

A Robin's/241 pizza is being built next to the Karwood-Kenmount roundabout in Paradise (they actually have a sign put up). I'm wondering if Robins are trying to expand in the city. They have a couple kiosks in SJ and a few standalone locations throughout the province like Whitbourne, Arnold's Cove, and Goobies. There were locations in Gander and Grand Falls but it seems they couldn't break through the Tim's stronghold there. Kelsey does seems like a good spot to put a coffee shop since the business section of the area is expanding. Personally, I'd like to see a Starbucks.... they do like to put a bunch of them really close together.

You never know, there could be a proportion of the population who eat nothing but fried chicken. Around here that statement is probably not a huge stretch....

In their defense, their qualifiers are cagey but the estimate is probably accurate if you think about it.

Going to get morning coffee at Tim's count for this. If the household drives two cars and both independently get coffee nearly every morning from Tim's, well, do the math. Then add in their kids getting Wendy's for lunch and mom/dad picking up pizza for supper every now and again, then eating out probably once every few weekends, and it's easy to add up to 520.

Yes I agree. It would probably be more accurate if it read 520 PERSON-times per year.

Or just didn't use such language. Average joe is gonna read that and think "—"..

funnier still, I noticed if you check the french side and compare with the English, I'm pretty certain the line "The key to our sucess [lol] has been the same since the very..." isn't that sentence or anything close on the French side.

So went to Pannizza today for lunch, and anyone who hasn't been there yet (which based upon the empty space today, would be most everyone ! ), think of a combination of New York fries mixed with Quiznos mixed with Extreme Pita

So here is my take:
Food : not bad, not excellent either, nothing too exciting here
Prices : Outrageous . 8" PIZZA came to $ 12 ( drink extra )
Atmosphere: Clean ( but then again its hard to be dirty when the place is empty )

WAYYYYYYYYYYY too big for what they need ! I'm sorry , but people are not going in here for table service and Beer ( yes they serve Beer and Wine ! Think Subway, with Beer, doesn't work ). People are going for a quick takeout lunch. Their overhead is going to bury them in the long run, they have like 30 tables in there, and from what I read, they are opening 4 other locations almost immediately ! Good luck with that

Anyway, been there, done that --- I certainly won't go out of my way to find another Pannizza !

You really can't beat Domino's. It may not be top artisanal pizza but it does the job and is really cheap... $5.99 for a medium two topping pizza! Quite frankly, I think Domino's has one of the best pizza sauces.

I was really looking forward to this place opening. I was hugely disappointed by the pizza, soggy and luke warm. Not horrible but a slice from acropolis is way better and a lot cheaper.

If these entrepreneurs follow through on opening 5 locations they are going to lose a lot of their parents.

Classic case of entrepreneurs who have no idea how to run a business. It's Oppy's Diner all over again.

RIP Pannizza 2017-2017.

So I was up at Munn Insurance today at Bristol Court on Kelsey Drive. They tell me that the new restaurant going just in front of Bristol Court is going to be Jumping Bean. I think someone else on here may have mentioned that previously too.

Boo. Though I'm not sure how reliabile allNL is (I have to pay to read anything, so that's promising at least).

Once we have all these great burrito/taco restaurants, maybe people will finally realize how — vile Taco Bell truly is.

If Taco Bell sticks with its business model here, which is to provide cheap and quick varieties of Mexican food then I can see a market for it. If the prices are inflated then it probably won't do so well.

That's the thing. It's hard to do that when you've only got one location here to share shipping costs with. Recently I was suggesting to a friend that if it was 2017 and we had no McDonald's here, we'd probably not ever get one.

The costs of shipping for one location would inflate their introductory Value Picks menu and further inflate the cost of their main menu, which is already pretty expensive as it stands. It's hard to get a foothold in the market when things aren't as they should be.

It's not as though a 1.39 on the mainland is equal to a 1.59 here so it's par, it isn't. $1.39 there is still a 1.39 here, which makes it worse when we get different menus for places like East Side Mario's.

If that's the case then what do all the one-off chains do here? Not trying to be snotty ... I'm completely ignorant to shipping and logistics and would really like to know.

Wouldn't Quesada's, Mucho Burrito, Burrito Jack's, etc. also have the same issue with shipping costs? Prices are relative, so as long as Taco Bell can keep prices below regional competitors then they are sticking to their business model. We may be paying more for TB value meals compared to southern Ontario, but I think that's a moot point.

Of course, if prices are completely out of whack then it's doomed for failure.
