I understand they have a few buyers combine units to make larger units. (2 now equals 1). So that could be cause for the discrepancy.

Floor count could be ommitting a mech floor, could be a typo, and maybe they lost a floor of parking to save money? Immaterial mostly, as long as it oes ahead.

Ironically there IS likely a hidden market for downtown luxury units and some of their units can be bought side-by-side to be converted into larger single units... maybe that happened?

Or maybe they lost one floor of suites. I don't care as long as this moves forward.

Just an FYI, Fortress didn't start construction on their Collier Centre project, but they finished it and people are moved in. So you can't say they never finished a project, so give that a rest too please.

Fortress’s original redevelopment plan called for a construction of an eight-storey building that included two floors of office space, but the office component has since been dropped. The new plan calls for a five-storey building with 10,000 square feet of main-floor retail space and 290 parking stalls on the other four floors.

Alibhai said the parkade will take about 12 to 14 months to build. The final cost is still being finalized.

She said the plan is to start building the parkade and the $200-million SkyCity Centre tower at around the same time — hopefully later this year.

IIRC they said it was contingent on landing a large office tenant that ended up selecting some other site. I don't recall mention having been made of who the tenant was or where they ultimately ended up going.

Question: If they start digging in the middle of October which will take several months and start forming Piles late winter/early spring, you think this will help with hoarding costs? I think I'd try to get much of the podium done as possible before the start of winter 2018 so each new floor after that requires less hoarding.

You're still looking a a build that takes a couple of years so regardless there will be some hoarding required at some point.

Someone else might want to chime in, but I think on large excavation projects it is easier to heat and hoard excavation in winter than to deal with constant de-watering and unstable soils in summer months. A lot of large projects start in late fall.

Not necessarily a terrible idea... think about it, 300 Main will be huge and won't have any new parking (to my knowledge, anyway) getting built along with it.

Without new off-street parking facilities to relieve some of the pressure, my concern is that we could start seeing marginal, older downtown buildings having a greater rate of "accidental fires" that pave the way for new surface parking lots, kind of like what has sprung up on Albert next to the St. Charles.

A few investors/owners purchased 2 units.That might be the case going forward with future buyers still.

Oh, there may or may not be a neat little chrome extension that will allow you around the FP/Sun pay-wall. One might call it a bypass. Not that I would encourage such a slight on struggling media platforms. But you know, something like that might exist.
