Thanks for the welcome. I remember that proposal, I thought it was a bit silly, but since then I have seen examples at work around the world and they are okay. I still think a BRT + AT bridge would be better.

When I was in high school they had an open house for it at Dakota Community Center, they had a few options, gondola, brt, just pedestrians/bikes...

There had clearly been a lot of time and thought put into this as they had determined several different areas to put a bridge, what type of span, pros and cons for each one, even the respective costs. If memory serves there were people from the city there to answer questions... I'm going to see if i can find more information on it....

Running a bus down the southwest transit way then through the U of M campus to the BRT bridge to south St Vital is actually a somewhat smart extension to the whole rapid transit network. It would be a way of punching some service into that area without trying to figure out a way to mirror the congested St Mary's Rd route to downtown.

Oh, I wasn't implying this, but seeing as the proposed BRT line to the St. V. area would go down the train tracks on the other side of the Seine, I think you have a point and a some people might be tempted to take this as an alternate route downtown.

Transit will be further utilizing Dafoe for RT and building a bus rest/staging area near the River at the east end of Dafoe. Which is the same location as one of the ped bridges in Perkins+Will thing. Almost makes too much sense to allow buses to cross there! Even if not a full blown, core BRT route. Not really sure where it would connect as the whole St. Mary's side is plugged up with development. There's some new paces going in right on St. Mary's, so that's likely a pipe dream.

Wayne, I can see the Northwest Co building to the right, and the Wawanesa building to the left. Using my uncanny powers of triangulation, I'd place that rendering exactly where everyone says it is.

What's the source of that rendering? The back side of that wall is pretty terrible. Just exposed conduit and electrical. That building needs to happen.

The UofM planning is already done. It ended up being a copy of the Perkins and Will submission. So much so that I believe there were some questions asked about how ethical it was.
