Sure Laval is a blossoming field, full of gems. But it's not the only ugly place around ;-)
In my hometown, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, 3 of the main boulevards are major eyesores (rue Saint-Jacques, boulevard Saint-Luc and route 133). If you explore them carefully, you find diamonds, such as these :

The guy used to hold a coke and a hot dog. He had to adapt to the economic cycles I guess

My grandma told me (hahahaha sorry) that Chez Dan was built in the 40s. It was a cheap local version of Orange Julep. There were waitresses serving in rollerblades, and the parking lot was much bigger (in the backyard). The concept: you ate in your car. The owner crafted its big orange ball itself. I guess the real Orange Julep guys never took the road 9B to Saint-Jean. I don't know how they would have reacted.

École secondaire catholique Thériault is the largest high school in Timmins and also the largest French-language high school in all of Ontario.

It was originally a brick building completed in the early 1970s but got a makeover sometime in the 1990s as they said the brick was crumbling. Since then it has the nicknames "Legoland" and "the bathroom."

Haha holy shit - Red Deer as a place to visit? It's fine, you know, I guess. A friend of mine is a senior planner there. They probably have several, good neighbourhoods. And tens, of nice buildings.

Yeah Gaetz ave is like Macleod trail on steroids with more inflatable gorillas and Sale signs. I'd more call Red Deer the biker bar of the prairies. They probably paid for that listing.

We have no shortage of ugly in Timmins but here is something a bit different:

There is a restaurant called Siva's which is located in the Timmins Square shopping centre. It is owned and run by Siva who is an immigrant from India. A very hard-working guy but isn't very big on appearance. He does a lot of unconventional advertising and it seems as though he doesn't pay much for it. The advertising is pretty ugly and would not likely be allowed in most cities but this is Timmins.

Okay, now for what get's really ugly:

He oftens parks this across the road from the shopping centre where his restaurant is using it as a billboard.

And he will buy old or abandoned vehicles, paint them as billboard ads for his restaurant. Here is an example of an old ambulance that was painted up and is in someone's yard in Porcupine:
