Don't remember the timeline exactly, but wasn't this around the time that Morguard started on Performance Court and the Feds had millions of square feet of office space built in the region while simultaneously slicing thousands of jobs (that they had created in the first place over the two previous years)?

I can't find my shot of the hole in the ground, poor keywording, but I do have Vanier at the ground floor Oct 20 2012. Was there an SSP thread for it? To keep things legal in Icon's thread this is an overall shot of both building locations (ahem). Vanier building is in the far lower left. Tribeca was mostly done with its second floor at the same time so I suppose Vanier has been slow. I posted something somewhere comparing Vanier excavation to Tribeca because they were both quite large in their own way. Where I do not know.

Went back looking at the thread and it seems like they started digging around Feb 2015... So it's been over 2 years now and they haven't even completed a what, 9-story underground parking structure?

60+ story towers go up faster than that in Toronto or around the world...

How many would have died in the process though? Site has been shut down all winter due to the ice or potential of ice. It's about a month per parking level which means they will be at street level in the fall and after that it's game on and a week per floor going up the rest of the way.

Yeah, I know what you mean, and I am sure there are places in the world where there is an acceptable amount of collateral damage in most projects. I am happy that this building IS still going to get built, and it's going to look amazing when viewed from the south end of Dows lake, especially at dusk or dawn...

It's a longer process when they get that tall. You work in reverse of the process to raise them. You use the crane to remove sections from itself and lower them to the ground until you get down far enough to finish the job with a mobile crane. On very tall ones this process can take several days.

In point of fact, I too am astonished how small the site is for a building of this scale and height...will it be going from lot line to lot line?

Update: I work near this site and pass it every day. I estimate Four sub floors are completed. As the floor plates slope upward for the parking garage, the 5 to 6 sub floor concrete pour is 2/3 done. If I am off then it would be 5 sub floors.
