Oh, look! A proposal! That's just as good as actual construction!

You mean the "idiots" from Fortress who told the city "To be clear, SkyCity Centre is not a feasible project without the [housing] program grant"....? The grant they missed the deadline for and aren't getting?

Congratulations to the people who could not keep their feeling of hopelessness on the fate of this project to themselves. You have tried to convince everyone who still has hope in this project that it won't go through and have started an unwinnable argument. And as a result of this, have made this thread the most depressing and pessimistic one on this forum.

It was depressing the moment they announced Sly City.

I don't get the fortress huggers here. People post actual photos year after year of failed fortress properties and they are called fake news ? Real life photos. My goodness has Trump support come to this forum?

Like the mess in Barrie and Union Waterfront, they were already a partner in the project, one of the "other developers", before taking it over.

In your August 2015 article, Fortress was hoping for a spring 2016 construction start. By summer 2016 that goal had slipped to late 2018.

Disagree. The Plains Hotel in Regina got knocked down very quickly in anticipation of construction starting... better part of a decade later and it's still just a hole in the ground. Demolition is cheap and doesn't mean that much on its own.

^ A new surface parking lot or a hole in the ground is not exactly a win.

there is a serious matter involving couple of investors and a person at fortress and was told he has screwed the last person.

i was told sky city will not be moving forward and a new project could be in the works but not having any part of the existing sky city team. even that seems doubtful but if its not a condo then there has been talks of a company in vancouver moving their head offices to winnipeg and could develop their new headquarters on the existing location.

its a crazy time we live in when a person can come on a forum and claim to have inside information on a company or project without naming or providing any links or sources. People automatically believe everything they hear or read.
This one time, I agree with lilwayne...

Northstars... you just come in here, clearly opposed to the project, televangelistically proclaiming "EVERYONE.... I. HAVE. NEWS. I heard this thing, and it means SkyCity won't happen..."

Like, seriously? Lol.

Again. Maybe you have zero knowledge of how shady they are and many people have had enough and are going to go after them now. What I know is enough to tell me that I should hope this project is scrapped unless an entire new company takes over and if that happens Sky City will not exist but a entire new project. I would be fine with that but I do not want Sky City to move forward and from what I can tell from my sources that any further project moving forward will have similar issues if they do not get caught up with fair obstacles put on them from intelligent people like we have in Winnipeg.

The last thing. I told you this was the monorail deal months ago and I was right.

I do not have any investment in this property but I hope people over at Fortress suffer. You wish the worst on those people. Not talking about the people selling retail (unless they are in on it) but the upper folks who are screwing people over and over.

Enough is enough. Just wait for the newscast to come out on these guys. Just sickening. The rumor that he lost his financial license is nowhere near what kind of people they are.
I have strong reservations about SkyCity, but you're lost in Space. So is lilwayne. If this project stalls or dies, it won't make your highly partisan viewpoint seem insightful, just lucky.

Nobody except lilwayne thinks this thing is happening, however nobody but you wants it to fail.

I think everybody knows this is not going to go ahead.

But this NorthStars fellow is starting to sound like Fortress with bold pronouncements and then not following through with the credible evidence he purports to have.

SkyCity is both comical and frustrating. Another day that goes by is another day that the surface lot sits in all its glory. Fortress needs to sell the land and just f*ck off.

I love the concept drawing of 300 main. They show Sky Cities awesome rendering of a downtown parking lot. Nice neat rows of cars. Smooth concrete to park on. Even trees. That's what I expect from Sky City. Anything less will just be a let down.
