Groundbreaking for $1 Billion Mercer Crossing Mixed-Use Development Gets Underway in Texas

FARMERS BRANCH, TX - Centurion American Development Group and the City of Farmers Branch announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the mixed-use development Mercer Crossing, at the corner of Luna Road and Whittington Lane in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Centurion American and the City of Farmers Branch have partnered to create the 370 acre, $1 billion development. The property, located in the heart of the Metroplex, will include more than 800 single-family homes, 2,250 apartments, retail stores, restaurants, a boutique hotel, 48-acre office park, amphitheater, and a boardwalk entertainment district.

And for years, thanks in large part to technicalities and roadblocks thrown up by Dallas City Hall, Flora Lofts stalled. A project that was supposed to have opened its doors in the shadow of Museum Tower by the end of 2015 remains unbuilt; the ground, unbroken.
But a vote by the Dallas City Council on Wednesday has jump-started the moribund project. The developers, among them La Reunion TX and architect Graham Greene, now expect to begin work by July, with March 2019 penciled in as the opening date.

Texas Rangers, Cordish Cos. to get Texas Live! underway in Arlington

The Texas Rangers and the Cordish Cos., based in Baltimore, plan to officially get Texas Live! — a $250 million mixed-use project near the stadium — underway in Arlington.

Redo ramping up on downtown Dallas' landmark Adolphus Tower

"We've put in all new mechanical systems in the building," Hoque said.

He said the exterior of the 27-story 62-year-old office tower will be "all lit up."

On the third floor, Hoque is building a new conference center.

And below street level in the basement, construction is starting on a 7,500-square-foot shared office environment that will be geared toward start up companies and incubator business space.

Hoque - whose DRG Concepts restaurant company owns the Fish Market and Chop House Burger restaurants across the street - plans to turn a former bank branch space in the bottom of the Adolphus Tower into another eatery or retail space. There will also be retail along Akard.

When the $7.5 million project opened in 1955 it was touted as "the most modern office building in the Southwest."

Dallas' skyline could be in for big changes thanks to one of the world's top architects.
Sir Norman Foster - the legendary British architect who's firm has designed some of the world's most compelling skyscrapers - is working on a tower for downtown Dallas.
Developer H. Ross Perot Jr.'s Hillwood real estate firm has hired London-based Foster + Partners to create concept plans for an almost 70-story tower on the north edge of downtown.
The soaring glass and steel high-rise would sit just across Woodall Rodgers Freeway from the Perot Museum.
Artist's renderings of the building on display in the Perot family's new Dallas headquarters show a round building with three atrium areas and a lighted top.
The tower would be constructed on the former Bank of America site at Field and Woodall Street, which Hillwood recently cleared for future construction.
"We have a million square foot tower planned," said Perot. "We have the rough renderings and this is what we want to build.
"With Sir Norman Foster as the architect, it's fabulous."
Hillwood is already show the plans to prospective office tenants.
If the project moves ahead, it would be the tallest tower built in Dallas in more than three decades.
Foster's iconic structures have transformed great cities around the globe.

I find nothing wrong with the building. Is it a totally unique design? No. Could it be worse? Yes. Everyone's taste is different. There's nothing wrong with a cylindrical design, if done right. Boxy buildings continue to be constructed, but it is the design that sets them apart. The buildings in Atlanta and Detroit are both hotels. If this were to be constructed, it could possibly be one of the tallest cylindrical office buildings in the World.

Yeah I have to disagree, the only similarity between these renderings and the buildings from Atlanta and Detroit is that they are all cylinders. This is a very nice design and I doubt the final design would even wind up looking as good as these renderings, at least as history shows. Plus I don't see how you could find something wrong with a design that is different from other current buildings.
