"If we respect the view cone, we can go as high as we wanted..."

Isn't that an oxymoron? Or is only part of the site interested by a view cone?

Also wanted, as in past tense? They can't anymore?

Vancouver Trump Tower developer sued by construction company

Vancouver’s Trump Tower has been slapped with a lawsuit for allegedly not paying one of its contractors.

Urban One Construction Management is suing Trump Tower developer Holborn Developments for unpaid bills related to the tower’s construction.

The lawsuit claims the defendant has not paid over $835,000 in invoices.

In a statement, Urban One Construction said: ““Urban One has never previously filed a lawsuit against anyone. Unfortunately, in this exceptional circumstance, litigation is our only option. Prior to filing of this lawsuit, Urban One worked hard to negotiate a settlement with Holborn Developments (West Georgia) Ltd., the developer of Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver. Unfortunately, the negotiations were unsuccessful.”

If I'm not mistaken Urban One's a very new company, so the fact it hasn't had to sue anyone isn't a surprise. This was the first major project they worked on that I am aware of. The amount is small potatoes in the grand scheme of a project of this magnitude but will make life tougher for Holborn to conduct business going forward. Any new contractor is going to be extra diligent in chasing down payment before extending too much credit.
I had my own run ins with extracting payment from them for services rendered but was ultimately successful and won't be doing any work for them again, mind you that was under the old management team and was hopeful things had improved.

all the comments on facebook are laying blame on trump himself for this. Other than his name he really has nothing to do with what's going on does he? It all falls into Holborn the developers lap.

If it had been any other brand would it generate the headlines that it is because of trumps name on it?

no, he was paid by Holborn to use his name.

of course not, this happens more often then people would think, but lets face it, the media does have a bias against Trump; no sane person can deny this.

Doesn't this happen on almost every construction project where the owner isn't happy with certain work done by a contractor and withholds payment until it's fixed?

Again guys, this thread is not to discuss Trump himself, only the project and the business surrounding it.

World's most expensive dorm room?

I looked at some new condos downtown last year and judging by the Brick-quality furniture and Playstations that were the main furnishings, the student market are big buyers of expensive condos.

That is hilarious. Really captures the essence of the millionaire lifestyle in the city.

Why did they even bother? They just ended up causing scratches to surfaces from moving all those crappy yardsale furniture...

maybe some artist will come out and say its their latest installation and a statement about Trump.

Either way no press is bad press and this is probably going to go viral. Will probably get some play overseas and in the states since trumps name is attached to it. Could be a genius marketing ploy.

I drive by it every night and one time during light testing I saw the lighting red. So I suppose the lighting colors will change from time to time. I imagine like most lighting features here in Van that the default color will be green, or maybe blue. But hopefully the change in colors will coordinate with a season, and special holiday or event......? Hopefully?
And hopefully, unlike the apartment down the road with the $400k LED light art display wall, the local neighbours will hold back their nauseating complaints that the lights are too bright so Trump lighting will remain on rather than shut down or dimmered down like W. Pender and Telus Apartments. Now that is tragic, isn't it? A building in a "major world class" city downtown told to turn the lights down or off. They should move to the burbs where they belong.
Sorry, really was not meant for a rant, but couldn't help it. I know you all know that Vancouver, in it's early obscure glory days was known as the neon capital, I really want Granville to bring it all back, a tourist attraction, will bring a lot of tourist dollars.

You can see the section of track on the right with a scissor lift under it -
where the building maintenance unit can be lowered for storage out of sight.
