This is reasonable. That said, I think it's fair to say that no one is really obsessing over this project, and I think that reflects positively on the overall level of activity throughout the city. 15 years ago when there was a lot less going on in the city, this project would have dominated discussion. These days, there are actual developments being built... if this one ends up joining those ranks then great, but if not... oh, well.

I like the Gotham but I'm not sure the owner of the corner house likes it. Depends on the Sun.

PS. LILWayne, you might notice some of us are taking the high road with regards to your demeanor.

First off. 60% sold? no it's not. Its only about 15% sold. In fact legal documents that I can confirm state this.
Where can we access this info, NorthStarsProject? I personally know 11 people who bought. And yes, I'm a kinda big deal in this town (haha) but hard to believe I know so many of the 57 that purchased. Just seems like a pretty news worthy scandal the media would pick up if this was documented, no? Even if people buy with the intent to rent out, that would still be a buyer regardless who actually occupies the space. Or am I missing something?

Side note: The name calling between NorthStarsProject and LilWayne leave a bit to be desired. Admittedly, I'm occasionally entertained by it but it's often off putting. If you want to have a rich, diverse, and healthy forum you may want to tone it down. Otherwise, it could end up with just the two of you.

I think you guys are way too fixated on this. If it goes through, great. If not, oh well. If you don't want to buy a unit then fine...don't.

LilWayne, did you create a new account just to try and create a third party perspective? That's funny.

Agreed.

I'm not attached to this project enough to care too much whether or not this whole project will go through.

If it does with shovels in the ground, then yes! This project will finally become reality!

If not, then whatever salad on that. One would try again, but at the very least, there's interest.

lol I'm not LilWayne. Just a short person lacking imagination when it comes to usernames! When people throw around terminology that suggests their claim is fact it makes me skepticle when it doesn't include source or research so I finally created an account.

Same page as most on here, I think. If it happens that would be great for Winnipeg but we shall see...

this forum is falling apart.. ppl believe the propaganda
Goodness. Time and time again, you barge in with this religious devotion to Fortress and then YOU of all people say words/phrases like "falling apart" and "propaganda".

It's simple. Fortress has not complete a project in recent memory without another developer doing it for them. They have a bad history.

And when someone SAYS something is 50% sold but they don't have construction financing... that means they're not 50% sold or that plans are not complete. Either of which eliminates the possibility of starting in May.

We keep spelling it out, and time and again, your response reads like an in denial tantrum.

One of the most valuable pieces of advice given to any successful person will have been "listen".

You really aren't listening.

this is unbelievble madnesss.
Your obsession with correcting our thinking on a project that you, to our knowledge, have no involvement or vested interest in is almost concerning

We all want this to go ahead. But even the most optimistic real estate developer knows that nothing proceeds without realism, so don't be offended if this site has some.

If in 202(0, 1, 2, 8?) this proposal somehow dominates our skyline, the same statement will be true, no? They brought in whatshisface to develop. So, while I sit in the middle reading this two sided battle of words, I don't get why that point keeps getting brought up. Fortress is not a developer and they won't develop this one either.

All that other stuff, yeah, we're probably going to sail right through spring without a shovel in the ground.

Anyone heard anything about the alleged grocery store? It seemed to be a big selling point originally with a lot of hype but radio silence now.

True North Square and now 300 main are also saying they want to land a grocer. Im thinking that might have something to do with their radio silence.

Obviously either of those developments would be finished first, so I would say SkyCity's chances are nil.

Good! I find the grocery options limited and far apart in the downtown area. Some variety would be welcome IMO. If competition makes it happen sooner...awesome.

I reported about the grocery store. They all are out.

At this point expect a food fare or something crappy lol. Maybe Save on Foods as they seem to over do their expenses for new ventures now until they settle in their foothold and begin to start losing $$ and having to down size as they are not in the same league as Sobeys or Superstore.

No thrills? same thing.

For sure. There will be no major grocery chain that is viewed as nice. I mean Giant Tiger is close to downtown and its a joke.

I know True North wants a Sobeys in their badly but Sobeys knows the market too well and they aren't going downtown. Only way that happens is if they get a crazy good deal.

And we know how True North operates with deals.
