Some big news with Sky City...

First. Another project that was intended on going up in another city has been scrapped.

Second. Apparently 2 people have been fired with the company.

And in other news as it keeps getting good there will be a report coming out in the next couple of weeks that some investors who bought to live are filing a lawsuit. I was told they have gathered credible evidence of illegal activity and approached the city with their findings. How the lawsuit will work? apparent assets have been frozen in Ontario and Manitoba.

This is going to get ugly real fast.

Oh God, the city needs to take back the St. Regis, and sell it to a developer who will actually do something with it. Fortress should just sell the land and move on.

Urban Sparq (parent of The Pint) recently bought a skid row hotel in Edmonton, across from Rogers Place, and turned it into the Crash Hotel. It's a boutique party hotel, with fun themed rooms, two bars, crazy mini bar and Red Bull fridge in every room. Some are bunk beds to keep costs down.

Definitely not for everyone (it's LOUD) but it's a really cool concept that would be a perfect fit for the St. Regis. Right close to MTS and all the downtown action. Would attract lots of partygoers to "Crash" for the night, Sub-21 Americans, etc.

Every room is different. Mine was Han Solo room, with a "Free Han" mural on the wall. Another was Star Wars themed that had children's Star Wars bedding. Lol.

The exterior siding is very cheap, but every downtown needs a hotel like this. The great aspect of managing the hotel is that you do not have to match case goods, etc: something needs replacing, no big deal, it does not need to be identical to that found in other rooms.

Buzz, by any chance, did you get to Blue Plate Diner? Great service, great food, and nothing in the place matches. I would love to see something similar in downtown Winnipeg.

This may be business as usual for them, but from the outside, how can you expect a vote of confidence.

Yeah - funny thing too is they don't use the third floor because apparently it's really haunted and employees refused to go up there, haha.

And no I didn't get there. The Mercer Tavern across from Rogers Place was awesome though.

Also the building with all the neon signs on it is SO COOL. I would love to see all the signs in the Neon Factory be re-installed all over the Exchange (and downtown) as public art. They're so awesome.

I love neon signs, and as we have discussed before, they are a big part of what made downtown so vibrant.

Love that idea for the Regis. Should have been done for the Carlton.

centreventure has given them another year to pay off their first mortgage, otherwise the property reverts back to centreventure.
