[A-town]

As I looked through the recent proposal I couldn't help but think to myself how they're all starting to look alike. And then boom! Broadstone Westside to the rescue. I think its a really nice looking building that pays homage to the area's industrial past. Always good to see developer's thinking outside the box. This is what Atlanta deserves.

By looking at the aerial photograph, it's hard to believe that over 5 million people live among (under) all those trees. It's kind of deceiving for someone who is not familiar with Atlanta area when they look at the photograph for the first time. It also looks like it could be a winter photo, so when it’s spring/summer, it would appear even more lush & green.

All Atlanta needs now are some snow-capped mountains in the distance and a natural coastline or major water feature and Atlanta would be perfect -

Let's see if our city leaders can work on that next!

When Bellwood Quarry is eventually converted into a lake and park, Atlanta will have a pretty significant body of water pretty close to Downtown/Midtown. Maybe one day the park could be line with apartments the way Prospect Park in Brooklyn is?

Yes, the Bellwood Quarry park project should be a great asset, but I'm going to miss that big hole in the ground. It's always been kind of fascinating to look at and so unexpected to see in the landscape.

It will be sad to see it go, especially since it has finally come into its own through movies & television in recent years.

Maybe they should just fill the quarry about 50ft from the top, so the rock formations still play a role in the landscape and then they could have steps cascading down to the water's edge. Of course railing would be a must - no one wants to see an errant dog chase a frisbie over the edge - ouch!

I've always thought they should just leave the hole and line it ~50% with apartments just as it is. The plan instead is basically...a big park with a lake. Lots of those around the country/world, including in our city already. A park where you could go down into the bottom of a massive quarry would be pretty darned cool.

I am impressed with how fast this Lennar Midtown project has moved through the development pipeline. I just don't know why these other apartment projects have not moved forward...

As a contrast to the aerial image above, I liked this old photo from sometime before the construction of 1180 Peachtree. Those who don't know what Midtown was like before would be shocked. It was so barren. Even Buckhead looks less impressive. The progress has been amazing and indisputable. (Is this picture OK or is it illegal to post it?)
