Albert, the city of Fort Saskatchewan, the city of Chestermere, etc, etc, etc.. Are all of those municipalities wrong in calling themselves a city?

The only difference is the amount of official amalgamation. West Vancouver to Langley is one city.

I mean, I live in a city that most of Metro Vancouver doesn't even know exists, and it has 4,000+ people per square km directly across the inlet from downtown.

And by "downtown" I mean downtown Vancouver, because we're part of Vancouver.

Looking southeast from Granville Bridge in Vancouver. In the foreground is False Creek South. The two cranes on the left are near Broadway/Kingsway in Vancouver. The Metrotown Skyline in the City of Burnaby in the far background. And looming over the horizon on the right is Mount Baker in Washington State.

to the alberta people, what is a hamlet? I've never heard that term used before moving to Alberta. In BC small places are just "Place Name - Unincorporated". They might get called Hamlets if they were in Alberta I think.

Hahaha yes, that was funny. It was the third "municipality" after Montreal and Calgary!
But municipal limits tend to be weird and kind of random... and an inefficient metric (at least in geographic and demographic terms). The municipality of Toronto had roughly the same population as Winnipeg at that time (1991) - .

I wasn't annoyed, just wasn't sure if I was missing the skyline somewhere in your shot. Like a Where's Waldo of Calgary.

Skyline Definition: A skyline is the horizon created by a city's overall structure, or by human intervention in a non-urban setting or in nature.

Also on website called skyscraperpage it's pretty obvious what sort of skylines are expected in this thread.

Its a small town or village. Most people think of them as being under 1000 persons, however Sherwood park is considered a hamlet but it is 70,000 people. A hamlet is usually governed by the county. In Sherwood Parks case if they became a city, they would lose out on revenue from Refinery Row which is under the county jurisdiction.

And Merriam-Webster's definition of skyline. You are correct but so am I.

^^^ There are highrises in Coquitlam now! I don't think there were any when I was there a couple of times in the early to mid 90's.

Here y'all go, a skyline shot that shouldn't be all that offensive to some, taken from my MIL's place with my potato - not a bad night time view she has.

Will Stantec have some night time lighting? Edmonton's skyline looks a little dull there.
