8-10 floors from the concrete core, or the floors themself? the core is probably like 5 floors ahead.

It's satisfying watching the DTLA surface parking lot slowly but surely go extinct.

Thanks for the update Hunter! The USC tower was featured prominently in the recent Amazon original series, Goliath. It housed a fictional big time law firm and showed off some stunning views of downtown from the penthouse.

How does one even begin? That's something I need to look into. I'm torn. I love LA and want it to progress, be more urban and get denser but at the same time I love my mama and want her to live comfortably haha. I know the owners of her building are older as well, which makes it scary. Who knows what the future holds.

Insecure on HBO also features DTLA a bunch. The main character's best friend works in the northern part of the financial district (I couldn't make out what building the view is from) and lives in Level.

They never show what building from the outside but I want to say The Gas Company Building? It's a great show btw.

Latest DTLA tower proposal sheet, its like 2006 on steroids. 21 towers currently under construction, and 49 proposed.

Can we get this list pinned to the first page or bookmarked or some equivalent?

South Park felt very alive today, even away from Staples Center. Its gonna be great when all those new units come online and hotels open up.

At some point though, new office space has to come there, no?

The tall one is probably around 16-17 floors high.

2 or 3 floors shorter than the small Metropolis tower. This project should rise fast now.
You can check it here.. (right corner) https://app.oxblue.com/open/hankeycapital/1200Figueroa

Whos behind it?

Be annoyed when we see them being proposed in horrible locations but just know that if its wooden, its easily replaced.

That one has an extremely prime location and it's much uglier and smaller (4 stories residential) than the 7 stories going up today. Plus it has no ground floor retail. Don't expect the 7 story wood frames going up now or in the last few years to come down for at least 30-40 years.

Developer is Heart Olive and architect is Togawa Smith Martin (Vibiana Lofts, Blossom Plaza, 6th and Bixel). It's one of my favorite recent infill proposals.

I'm just amazed at the amount of vertical development in DTLA.

Agree, and within those decades we are stuck with them being underutilized. Tearing them down as throw aways also isn't a sustainable practice for our community environment. If we are to build right, we need to do it with a better plan from the beginning.
