The section immediately in front of the corporate boxes (on the left side of the above render) will be the "club seating" section. These seats will be two inches wider than in the general seating areas, and in addition, club seating patrons (along with the corporate box owners) will have access to the club lounge (and restaurant). These seats will be the expensive ones. Otherwise, I don't know if they will be pricing the reds differently than the greys, but that might make some sense..........

The club lounge BTW will be two stories tall, will have expansive floor to ceiling windows overlooking the plaza along the side of the building (and the city skyline), and will have two outdoor rooftop patios - nice!

Yes the club seats are well laid out and will have lots of amenities. The club seats won't block any views such as is the case with added box seats at the Halifax Scotiabank Centre (which in other aspects is a fine facility). This seems to be a trend with new stadiums and some arenas where the club seats are stacked along one side (a great idea, in my opinion).

I think they are hoping to make a big run for the cup within the first couple years of the new event center, maybe even a hope to host Memorial Cup here again? Just a thought
It's the Q's turn to host again in 2019, which lines up with the building opening, but the big problem is that their rebuild won't lineup with the building opening. Rebuilds in junior hockey typically go in 3-4 year cycles. The Cats management seem to be treating this as year 1 of the rebuild, but really it's year 0. There's no talent left on the roster to even build with. Year 1 will be next year after they actually draft some talent in June. Typically you see the powerhouse teams loaded with 19 and 20 year olds, which means those 16 year olds they draft this summer will only be 19 in 2020-21. If you draft and retool really well like Saint John has in the past, you can contend multiple years when your core is 18 and again at 19, but the Cats will need to put in a hell of a lot of work (and require a fair amount of luck) to make that happen.

I would much rather them wait it out and build properly than try to rush the rebuild like they did last season and also in 2013 and end up with a half-assed run just for the opening of the new building.

It was a sunny warm +9C in Moncton today, so this gave me the impetus to crawl out from under my rock and take a few pictures.

Current status of the Events Centre:

The building looks bigger than the Halifax Scotiabank Centre; I guess this is partly because some of the Scotiabank Centre is underground.

I believe the grayish parts are a special surface on which they will be beaming different coloured lights.

Yes exactly...the original plan called for multi coloured panels on the building but citizens (rightly so) shot that down in meetings...the panels would fade and likely become dated looking fast...this simplified look is modern but also less likely to look bad when faded...and at night the possibilities are endless with lighting effects

I definitely like the red brick and curved glass wall entrance... very modern yet classic look.
And the ability to beam coloured lights, logos, etc. onto the gray surface has great potential.

I like the different shades of gray, "ça donne du relief". Faded or not it will still look good in 10-20 years. I also like the red bricks and the large glass curtain on Main. Overall it looks great and I'm so glad this is downtown. This will be a top notch infrastructure, now we just have to pay for it.

A little bit of an update from the city of Moncton website regarding the events centre. This is from January.

PROJECT BY NUMBERS
- One trip around the concourse level is in excess of 350m.
- To date the contractor has completed over 500 QA/QC (quality) inspections.
- The main lobby ceiling is over 5m high.
- There is over 250 m of catwalk in the roof trusses overlooking the arena bowl.
- There will be over 60 TV’s throughout the building.
- There are over 80 slab inserts in the ice slab concrete. These are used as anchor points for various shows.
- Over 133,000 man hours have been involved in building the facility to date.
- There are approximately 110 people working on the site daily.

INTERESTING FACTS
1) There will be acoustic “lapendary” (sound absorbing) panels hung from the top of the trusses.
2) There will be a type of electronic signage on the east and west sides of the bowl.
3) The building is designed to host both end stage or center stage concerts.

I outlined the most interesting morsels of information in red.

Here are a few photos from the most recent update:

This shows what the concourse will look like (especially the width).

Thanks for the updates MonctonRad. I haven't followed this closely in the past but now I am looking forward to it opening even though I will have to follow it from afar.

Apparently the Moncton Sports Wall of Fame will be relocated to the new events centre when it is completed. This seems like a fitting move.

This will be an excellent addition to the new arena and I think downtown is the perfect place for it.

Where is it currently? I'm assuming the 4plex.

I cant say this enough but what a difference it will be heading into an event with a lobby like that.
There was building designs I preferred to the one they eventually chose..but the interior is for the most part terrific.

Walking up those stairs heading with an open view into the rink will build a nice anticipation before entering. This is such a drastic improvement from the bland, stuffy and cramped low ceiling entrance that that the coliseum currently has. Not to mention a ton of natural light from all the glass gives it an open feel. This is a nice added touch when exiting an event walking back into main street is inviting and will give event goers the idea to head to establishments afterwards to keep their night going. Something the coliseum does not have at all..unless you want to head to ayer conv. for a 99 cent hot dog.

Is the box office located inside the lobby there or is it in a separate building thats on the other parcels?
