Precisely my point, so many getting up in arms over something that's not finished but amazingly looks quite close to any renders that have been listed.

Closer to 21,000, actually. And a great deal of those, from what I've seen, are insightful contributions to this forum.

Not sure why all the negativity around the crown - I think it looks good! Would much rather that than have the body cladding continue all the way to the top IMO.

It looked like the paneling in the East side of the crown wasn't complete. Since it's taking them a bit to simply panel the walls, I'm hopeful it's LED paneling?

Please????

Interesting. Perhaps they've learned from the Arriva experience, and have gone panels that can be serviced more easily, and that are not exposed to the elements. If the entire panels have LEDs, that could allow for some very dramatic variance in what is projected.

We'll have to wait and see, of course.

That's just a guess though. Has there ever been any confirmation that there's lighting for the crown?

Hearing rumors of construction halting because of tenant issues? Any truth to that? I read it on a different forum.

EDIT: This is what was said -

Quote:
Hearing that Cowtown's Brookfield is "halting construction" - due to the fact that the Bow has room for 1500 more Cenovus and that the other 5 buildings Cenovus is in - their lease rates are to good to give up to make the move to Brookfield. Hearing this first hand from the Bow....fyi.

I'd like to see a link to that other forum b/c those rumors are pure 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵. The building is done other than a bit of work on the crown and whatever they have to do inside which they've probably been working on for a long time. This rumor is crazier than the one about Telus Sky.

Yeah, pretty sure that lease is iron clad and Cenovus is going to move in even if the Bow is sitting across the street and empty

Cenovus likely won't be getting out of their contract... just because the base building is nearing completion doesn't mean the building is done by any means, TI (tenant improvements) will likely be a minimum of 8 months for the kind of square footage cenovus is taking. It does seem like they have slowed down construction which may have been because of other factors on the Brookfield side. But nothing that cenovus has power over. An interesting side note cenovus originally signed for ~70% of the building but only needed about 60% of that last I heard from a high up at cenovus. They will still keep their 13 floors in the bow building in addition to Brookfield. The long standing timeline said occupancy 3rd quarter of 2017 this might be now closer to 1st quarter 2018.

I'm not sure if the person who posted that was talking about the nearly finished main tower or the short tower that has been on placed on hold...

I don't think that the second tower was ever given a start date, so it would be hard to put it on hold.

That's what I thought and I don't recall ever seeing that Cenovus would be part of it.

Correct, the second tower was never given a start date. It has always been a phase that would go ahead when the market conditions existed to make it viable.

I wonder if this "halting construction" rumour from someone in the Bow building is more a reference to Cenovus trying to push back with Brookfield on how fast interior fitting work for them is being done. Easily interpreted to a layman as stopping or halting construction.

Why would Brookfield care as long as Cenovus pays their rent? Brookfield's responsibility is base building. The general contractor for the building is not even under Brookfield's umbrella. It's Ellis Don. It's possible Cenovus has retained Ellis Don for their fit up and wants to cancel some if not all work because they won't be using the space. The furniture isn't going to be built and sitting in a warehouse for the next year, for example.

I know that the footprint of the current tower needed the space of the old Herald building but I really wish the parkade was ripped down instead, if we're going to be stuck with the status quo of that block for the next 5-10 years. That thing is just nasty to look at.

Cenovus doesn't need it. But they're not breaking their lease. (May have been posted before.)
