You might but economics will most likely dictate a change at some point in the future.
You can get LEDs that emit the colour of high pressure sodium. I'm not a fan myself. I prefer the metal halide bulbs in Toronto. The amber hue is better for light pollution.
We really do have fabulous cities in this country.

When were those Vancouver pictures taken? It must have been back in early December. Even with all the recent snow the city should be looking much greener now.

Nope, I'm out here right now and this winter has taken a toll on Vancouver.
The tulips etc.. are budding but the trees are weeks behind where they usually are.
Not a green leaf in sight yet where normally by mid Feb you'd be seeing some budding on the trees.
The flowers and trees start to bloom, the rain stops, the clouds clear, and the mountains are beautiful as they still have snow on the peaks like icing on a cake. Just as Central cities look lovely in the fall with the georgeous changing and vibrant colours, springtime is Vancouver's special time.

It's strange seeing brown grass any time of year in Vancouver, well except in dryer weather. I don't think west coast grass is as hardy as the stuff on the east. I know my dad is pissed because he's been unable to golf most of the winter. Still it looks like Spring has finally sprung on the west coast.

Hopefully the cold weather hasn't damaged the flower buds too much.

Hmm maybe we're talking about different things then, there's definitely no brown grass here and wasn't when I was out here over the holidays either.
The grass never goes brown here during the winter, just doesn't get cold/dry enough. Definitely goes brown during the summer though.
1) Here in Vancouver, the grass is nothing but brown, every year, always, from late June/July through to the fall when the rain returns.
2) Not to hassle you unduly ssiguy, but that last post: are you drunk? So positive. It's like you're dancing through the tulips with Snoopy. I also agree: the mountains especially are at their best in the spring (or similarly, on a sunny fall day after an early snow). And not just in beauty, the snow makes them seem a lot taller.
