those lights have been out for a long time.

Its probably an expensive job to set up the scaffolding and the labor to relamp all the fixtures even if they decide to replace all the bulbs with LED ones.

There are pretty long boom lifts available for rent. And the building most likely has rigging for a window washing platform.

I recall there being scaffolding when they did it last but maybe they were also doing work on the facade at the same time

Amazing how lighting can improve an image of a building, especially at night.

Looks like the new Manitoba Clinic building is hitting their top out. I didn't do a floor count but the next level going up seems to be using metal that I didn't notice on the other floors. I assume that is for the roof.

Separately, seen this crew at the Sterling Building before and wasn't sure what they were up to. This morning there was a truck parked there for a flooring remediation company (didn't catch their name) but the graphic looked like a commercial version of self leveling floor product. They are definitely mixing large volumes of product on site as at least the second large dump truck of sand has been dropped off now. They also have pallets of some other product on a separate truck.

Worth mentioning that from the Smith St side if the timing is right you can see the old main floor bank vault. Have to wonder if they plan to leave that in place once the renovation is done.

Anybody know whats happening at Goldmark Jewellers building at 1355 Pembina? I believe the bottom floor is 2 CRU's and the rest of the floors are 1 bedroom apartments. Whole building has been tarped for about 3 weeks now.

Sounds like they are putting a layer of gypcrete on the floors.

Its basically a low strength, lightweight self leveling grout.

Just listening to 5pm news and CJOB is saying there is a study saying the ER's should be closed in the community hospitals, and they should be turned into quick care clinics.

How much money over the last few years was spend to enlarge the ER's in the community hospitals?

Are you sure? The reports I'm reading says that it's the ORs that should be closed.

ER's suppose to go to urgent care like Misericordia with the exception of 1 un-named hospital.

So basically it would be ST. B. HSC and the 1 community hospital to be named later doing full ER from what I heard.

Of course touching ER locations is a hot button subject so the govt may just file the report.

If they're doing away with general surgery at all but 3 hospitals, that would make a lot of sense, and wouldn't really be a problem. The same facilities could easily be used for urgent care.

I think the govt. is putting a halt on everything to properly assess where and what health care dollars are going to. Right now there is a lot of redundancy.

If health capital projects are being shut down like that, I think it's likely going to be even more grim for transportation infrastructure projects (both road and transit). 59/101 and phase 2 SWBRT could be the last projects of their kind for quite a few years.

This was expected. Pallister was going to fix the finances. Canceling spending is the only way at the moment.

By the time he's done, I don't expect a high approval rating from Manitoban's or a second term.
