The kickbacks come in where cousin Vinny shows up with Tony and Nicky with a baseball bat and say if you don't have $50k in a brown paper bag to them by Friday they're going to start breaking legs.

That facade...it just doesn't look that good. I keep waiting for it to turn the corner.

I'm not a fan of the thick horizontal lines between panels. If they could be cleaned up it would be a huge improvement.

I think once more of it is up and the bare concrete is covered it will look better. I'm also disappointed about how they panelized the facade, it definitely takes away from the pattern. I'm hoping the wood will be the saving grace for this, at least in terms of the exterior.

I disagree on that.

1. Part of the challenge currently is that this is a minimalist building (to a degree) and as such a smaller portion being completed will not do justice. It is not like assessing a few panes of windows on a skyscraper that is going to have homogeneous glazing. This is more like a building sized work of art. So it comes together at the end.

2. I think part of the effect will include lighting from the inside, particularly at night. When that all comes through, I think the building overall will look spectacular.

Another challenge is that large-format artistic minimalist buildings need light to show their beauty, and this location is in-line and not orthogonal to light coming from the south. They've dealt with that as best as possible with the curve of the building, opening up more space between the municipal building and the library on the south-end. The designers should be commended for this. There is not much more that could have been done. You will notice that most of the photos captured from 3rd street have the facade in shadow.

Given all of the above, I think it is moving along splendidly.
