^ That rejuvenation of North Main during the mid-00s came to a screeching dead halt about the time that construction began on the WRHA office project. I think one of the lessons that should not be forgotten is that sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone... a well-intentioned revitalization project like that can end up snuffing the life out of an area.

If I am recalling correctly the Java Jungle was at one time part of a chain. Pretty sure it is was the chain long failed leaving the local one as an independent. Being part of a chain would help explain the weird deco and name.

Now that you mention it, I think there was one in the McIvor mall up the the 1700 block of Henderson Highway at one time.

I don't know about any strange smell, but I didn't really like the green decor, so I never bought coffee from that place.

I'd go to Second Cup further down on Graham instead.

How about a DQ in Polo? There's already an Orange Julius.

BTW, I started making Orange Julius' at home because the store-bought ones are too expensive and too sweet.

On the weekend I was there and was really craving a choc. shake. Surprisingly, Arby's has 'em $4.50 for a medium size mocha flavour.

It was tasty.

These are in apartment blocks and the building staff are not doing the daily water treatment properly so when the inspector comes in the pool fails the water test.

Went to Jollibee.
Went near 3 pm so the line ups are there but not as bad as noon or supper time.
Regarding chicken,
They only offer legs and thighs. I prefer the other pieces.
*The taste however, was very good. Once again, considering I like the ribs and keels, it still has great taste and nice breading.
You get 2 sides, skip the fries they are awful....rice is just plain white rice.
Mashed are better, buttered corn is okay...Plus.....gravy comes with it and is hands down the absolute worst I ever had. Watery, odd flavors.
*The peach / mango turnover dessert is actually good, not to sweet and very smooth going down.
Spaghetti is made with Banana paste and wieners.
I did not get try the pancit.

Friend owns a hotel. Told me inspectors are very strict. Will come in, do a sample and find you're out a tiny bit, no danger but you have to correct it. So the closure sounds worse than it is.

Good news the inspectors are strict. Always sketchy getting into those for me. You know maintaining pools are just a pain in the 🞵🞵🞵 for the building managers.

Hotel pools as well. If I can smell the chlorine, I don't mind haha. A good shower afterwards is always in order.

Paper in the windows is down at the new Across the Board. It looks absolutely spectacular at night with the big windows activated all along Main and Bannatyne. It's going to be amazing on that corner, hope they crush it here.

I agree. For the longest time it felt like Main Street was set apart from the rejuvenated part of the Exchange District on either side, but with things like Across the Board it feels like Main itself is becoming part of the action. Across the Board looks great from the street.
