Sheesh, it looks like they are using every type of material and design element available in this project. That is a whole lot of "going on" right there.

/\ Shows very well how much Montreal's skyline is unique with its mix of old and modern, completely different (not better, just different) than Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary's mostly modern skyline (Toronto has older skyscrapers, but they are hidden from almost every angle now). Anyway, nice pic. The Tour des Canadiens 2 will extend nicely the skyline to the south of Deloitte. Now we need a nice lighting scheme for the old Royal Bank tower and the Aldred, and also a renewed lighting scheme for the Tour de la bourse.

Yup. The one in the background is Mount Garibaldi (2,678 m/8,786 ft.). You can't see it from Metro Vancouver, but it looms over Squamish.

Garibaldi? I take your word for it, but that's one weird distortion of distance. I've climbed Garibaldi but have never seen it from that angle. It looks massive.

Also, perspective? Those beasts could disappear from the Vancouver experience if we lose the viewcones. Don't they look threatened by the city?

How about the closer mountains? They're what, 800m?

Grouse Mountain - 1231M (4039 ft)

I think the Grouse Mountain peak is in the pic on the far right, just above the snow line and near the edge of the image.

I think the clouds were at about the same height as the snow line in that pic, so they didn't seem so big.

I've lived 3 months in Squamish in the early 80s doing volunteer work and I spent so many hours staring at Mt. Garibaldi that it must be mesured in days and weeks... What an awesome mountain, looks like the mighty Everest. This is my guess at the peaks:

Thanks for the information and pics, frank. I've got to make it up to Squamish this summer. I absolutely love that area.

Speaking of Garibaldi, there's a proposal there for a rather large ski resort...

Quote:
The $3.5-billion Garibaldi at Squamish resort project, proposed by Vancouver Canucks owner Aquilini Investment Group, consists of 124 ski runs over 668 hectares of terrain, three gondolas, 18 chairlifts, and three lodges on the mountain. Up to 22,000 people could be accommodated in the plan that includes 1,700 hotel units and 5,736 housing units within three interconnected villages.
