• MacKenzie Art Gallery Renovate welcome area $247,547
• Wascana Centre Authority Rejuvenate the waterfowl display pond in Wascana Park $53,600
• Wascana Racing Canoe Club Install solar panels at the Wascana Racing Canoe Club $18,616
• YMCA Regina Install energy recapture boiler system $130,000

(funding for Saskatoon projects was announced last week)

I don't know. City Hall and TD Bank were built in the 70s and even SGI fits that having been completed in 1979. Grenfell was the 80s. London Life is dull, but passable because there is no lower parking garage. I like the North Canadian Oils building, but the blank wall is terrible, but it's parking garage is better looking than many. SGI was even a product of the 70s having been completed in 1979. Every decade has great and lousy architecture. The issue I've always had with preservation and the architectural record is the record is not just whatever survives to be 100 years. City Hall is a really great modern building with a lighting element on top and it really shows the kinds of things that are possible even using precast pieces. I also love the fact that it looks like it is straight out of a super-hero comic.

Lighting was improved on Broad St underpass last week.

The existing lighting was yellow and extended onto the roadway instead of lighting the walkway.

New lighting is now bright white lighting, and they cut back extension to actually illuminate the walkway.

Should improve the perception of safety on this underpass walkway.

This improvement that has been discussed for 6 years and gone nowhere. I am not taking all the credit, but I applied a lot of pressure this year to finally get the damn thing done.

Glad to hear it - I walk that underpass regularly (growler in-hand), the lights always confused me... didn't effectively light the roadway, and also didn't properly light the sidewalk. Now to try to convince the pigeons to go somewhere else (dodging their "gifts" isn't ideal)... or, at the very least, getting them to the east side of the underpass, rather than over the sidewalk.

Yes, cleanliness is the next step. I think it actually is generally clean, aside from the pigeons.

Similar story with glass, I bet. There's nothing inherently unrecyclable about glass (even if broken) - it simply nets less money than glass sorted by colour, grade, intact, etc. So, Emterra's probably done a cost-benefit & decided that paying to send it to the Landfill is better than marketing it.

The City's new spin on wrapping paper recycling (most of it *is* recyclable, as everyone knew), confirms my belief that it was a money issue - not a recyclability issue.

Love this line, "We've come to realize how passionate our residents are about recycling,"... aka: "People called our bluff."

I'd really like to see the city consider putting recycling up for bid again when the next contract comes up, see if someone else wants to do more for us.

If u r referring to Victoria Tower when u say London Life, you r incorrect; there are two levels of underground parking in that building.

Very expensive for no real gain whatsoever. The mural could work but it would have to be good. But then again it would be expensive and the building owners aren't known for spending money...

Regina has had some major projects complete or underway , such as the bypass , the incredible new stadium ,the 29 story capital pointe and 11 story hotel , may 2017 bring some exciting developments
