I disagree.. I think a beautiful skyline can be achieved without more height. I happen to like the smaller towers and big density look and think it is appropriate for Halifax. That said, I wouldn't object to a taller tower in N.S...
I think Halifax has a certain Wellington New Zealand vibe skyline wise.. which is quite nice.
Really loving the development going on in Halifax. I can't wait to visit.. Looks like a beautiful city.

Halifax and Edmonton are undergoing the most exciting transformations in Canada right now, IMO.

It's building but, architecturally, it's building duds. I hope it hasn't gotten to that corner yet.

The new builds are averaging taller. It doesn't need a 50 storey tower right now.

Agreed. While it would be cool to see a huge 750 footer go up, I think the Halifax skyline would benefit more from, say, 3 250' towers. It's nice to see the Halifax skyline filling out the way that it is.

As if a city in Canada is actually building a funicular. Most were torn down in the early 1900s.

The funicular would make it a lot easier for people to get up and down in that part of the river valley, esp. seniors and children. There's been complaints about how the river valley's not so accessible as people would like. Yes, there's stairs, and quite a few of them in places, including where the new funicular is being built. But many of them are quite long due to the depth of the river valley. Stairs like these fine if you're fit enough and for keeping fit, but not so good if you're 5 or 85 years old (esp. if in poor health)!

Oh, and this is not the first funicular Edmonton's had - there was one built in 1908 and it operated until 1913. This was known as the Edmonton Incline Railway. It was then shut down for good after the High Level bridge opened. It was built to carry not only people, but also horses. The location of this thing was a few blocks further west, starting where the Chateau Lacombe Hotel stands today.

Note the church in the background - it still exists to this day as MacDougall United Church. Also notice how short it was!

I know I'm quoting myself here, but I have to add I meant the funicular, not the church!

I think a picture turned 180 would have at least half as many towers in it.
