Yes I agree. Would look nice in just about any large city in Canada and really is a signature piece for Saskatoon.

The developer of King's Wharf in Dartmouth, across the harbour from Halifax, has made an official announcement about the next (fifth) tower to be built. It'll be a 36 storey condo called the Maristella. They plan to break ground early in the new year.

It will be a new tallest for the Halifax area and Atlantic Canada.

Is this in addition to the other design or a replacement?

No, it's being built on the eastern parking lot of the site. They'll try to rent the abomination as office space

Is this ROC's Le Phare version ? Well, at the very least, the promoter in Québec city was clever enough to redesign the abomination.

Really need a more detailed rendering to figure out what is going on but, yeah, the crown is reminiscent of The Phare or 1990s knockoff PoMo.

This new image is a rendering of a later version of the tower in the image you posted. The height was increased a bit and the developer, I think, has approval to built some taller ones in the 40-storey range.

The rendering may still be somewhat conceptual, and either way it is a bit hard to make out. The developer will probably release some more renderings and there must be detailed technical drawings and models somewhere.

The building's location is interesting. It is going to be very visible and will have panoramic views because it juts out into the harbour. It's close to the ferry and there is a water taxi nearby. The downside is that this area would be windy and soggy for much of the year. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the landscaping in more detail. It is not a great spot for a wide plaza. The rest of the development is a more conventional cluster of buildings.

It's an interesting site/proposal nonetheless.

An open house is about to be held for 19 residential proposals in the the central parts of Halifax and Dartmouth (but outside of the downtown Halifax planning boundaries), so a bunch of new renderings have been released. Here's part of the list (you can see the complete list by going to the original post).

I really like the Spring Garden West project but I like what's already on the site better. I don't want to lose so many of our more charming elements.

Just an unassuming 3 story wood lowrise with retail at the base and apartments above. Nothing remarkable or landmark, just nice urban texture. Something that I'm tired of seeing eroded.

Has that been approved yet? It would be a step up for the street it's on and the location has a lot going for it (facing a park and the Parkdale Market).

It does say massing views. The developer builds box big malls so I wouldn't expect much in terms of designs.
