Commonwealth is nice & big but IMO there is nothing unique about it, nothing.

I think you're probably overestimating the renown of Michigan Stadium because you're in SW Ontario. Even once you get to Toronto, I doubt it's a stadium that people think of as iconic and spectacular. (Which are two fairly different things.)

As Americanized as Canadians are, the American stadiums Canadians think of right off the bat would be Yankee, Wrigley, Dodger and Fenway. So baseball stadiums.

For football stadiums it's probably Lambeau Field and the old Dallas Cowboys stadium, and for a humongous college football stadium it's likely the Rose Bowl that most people would name.

Being from Hamilton michigan stadium and notre dame stadium are the first two that come to mind. Rose bowl and usc colliseum would be close behind.

Great vid from 1982, almost 35 years ago.

I agree Commonwealth is a nice stadium but there is nothing unique about. If you feel I'm wrong, fill me in.

^ Pretty sure Migs' criteria for assessing uniqueness is whether or not the venue is located in Regina.

Personally, I think Commonwealth is unique (what would one mistake it for? It resembles Arrowhead Stadium but it's by no means a cookie cutter venue), but even if one doesn't agree, I'd say it's still a pretty spectacular stadium. Especially when it's full or close to it.

Incorrect. IGF is unique, Olympic Stadium in MTL is unique, BC Place is very unique. Commonwealth Stadium IMO is merely 2 levels of stands much like many US College Stadiums. Just my opinion.

What always impresses me is how gracefully it has aged.

Sure, some minor reno's here and there but nothing major. Assuming Calgary gets a new stadium at some point this will be the oldest stadium in the league.....but I don't think your ever going to hear a significant number of people complain about it...and it has a lot of years left.

In the era where stadiums and arenas are almost viewed as disposable, Commonwealth has stood the test of time.
