Renderings belong to all of us There is an updated rendering for 360 Apartments by Garbett as well that is an improvement from the original.
The 4th West Apts. are a great addition to the area, sans the prison tower look-out posts. They could have done anything else or nothing on those corners.
I also like the 360 Apts. varied layout versus the boxes we're getting here and there.
And hoping that the Centro Civico plans work out.

WTF is that? The DA building is just horrendous, especially when you realize what we coulda got. Sigh.
But I'm digging the Centro Civico plans.
I am a lover of art. I am the last person to say that art is bad. Usually I can find some perspective on a piece that doesn't resonate with me and appreciate it for what it is. But this. This is bad art.

I am hesitant to critique concepts, because they can sometimes become incredible works or art. However, I am SO underwhelmed by this. I will have to see how it plays out, but as of right now I am extremely disapointed.
This was posted over a year ago. Has there been recent news about it? Looks like a cool little project. Actually not so little for that area.
They got a loan from the RDA last year to fund planning and looking into other funding sources. They still plan on developing the site but are still in the planning stages.
Public Art Award for Downtown SLC’s New District Attorney’s Office Building
The Salt Lake County Downtown District Attorney’s Office has recently approved Gordon Huether’s design for a permanent, integrated glass art installation for their new office building located on 35 East 500 South Main Street, Salt Lake City, UT, a $65.4 million construction project.
EDIT: I'm liking this project a lot. as far as the building goes. I am interpreting the glass façade as an element that will be very attractive when finished. These renderings, while not too bad, underserve what will be the finished product as far as the glass skin is concerned. For many reasons, I would like to see something similar here in L.A. amongst the civic area of Downtown.
Now that I've seen the art glass blown up to a much larger size, I'm going to reserve judgement until one of you forum members takes a few pics. I agree with what your saying below Orlando. Doesn't seem to fit the building at all. Still love the building, but wonder if this art work is going to spoil it. Seems really odd.

Ya, sorry man, but I think the art is horrible. It doesn't go with the buildng at all. And, the building itself doesn't seem all that great either, but, maybe it's just the bad rendering.

Now that the Sugarmont, 4th and 4th and the Milagro (next to the AC Marriott) projects have started construction there are now 3656 units under construction in Salt Lake.
That's not fair - there's a lot of great architecture to come out of the 1960s.
That might be true but the DA building is bad architecture that came from the 1960s.

I like the building a lot, but didn't bother to blow up the size of the rendering with the art. That really is pretty odd, to put it nicely. Also, the writing and content seems kind of inappropriate plastered on the façade like that.
I kind of like the building. The art looks dumb. I am, however, very excited about the giant forest behind the building.
Isn't the corner of 500 S and Main being left for future development? I remember someone saying there will be around 100 feet between Main Street and the west face of the DA offices to accommodate another structure in the future.
I like the DA Building as well although I do not like that the parking garage behind it is almost as large as the building itself. I wanted to quickly mention that the Sugarmont Apartments do not have a building permit. In fact, they have not yet submitted their plans for review. They have secured a demolition permit for the former Granite Furniture warehouses. I only mention this because once the warehouses are down you will not see construction on the site for a few months. I would actually be surprised if we see any construction in 2016.
