My thoughts exactly...

I posted this elsewhere earlier:

I wonder if he was told this date in confidence or whatever, wasn't made clear to keep it quiet and inadvertently let it slip. I mean, he did go on to mention the stuff about all of the training going on between Transit Police and Port Moody Police. It kind of sounds like a backpedal, like he knew the date but then after he spilled the beans he was made aware that he wasn't supposed to say anything yet. Stole some announcement thunder? lol

As I mentioned before though, that date (or close to it) still jives with what I have been hearing from various little birdies.

Should be scheluded to open with Decembers sheet (Saturday before).

When Canada Line opened August 17, which was a few weeks ahead of bus changes, what happened to those changes (including the 98 B-Line)? were they pushed up?

IIRC, the 98 B-Line continued to operate until Labour Day. I can't recall if the suburban buses were redirected to Bridgeport early or not.

All took place in one weekend. 488, 491, 492, 496 were cancelled the friday before the Labour day. 424 and 98 cancelled on the Sunday, and 351/601 were redirected on Labour Day. 311, 352, 354, 601, 602, 603 on the Tuesday.

Two Mark 2's (or more?) have been running all day today through Port Moody...frequency is reasonably high...simulating full service ?

Exactly. Testing revenue service conditions, and ensuring track speeds are accurate, stopping points correct in stations, training of Control Room staff on best practices for operations (holds, turn backs, etc) and proving time for the new section.

It's awesome after so long a wait this project is so near completion.

GlobalBC got a sneak preview of the Evergreen extension today, and they have a timelapse video of the ride (from the back window, sadly):

That tunnel is pretty impressive. Didn't initially grasp how long it actually is.

Love it! It looks to be one of the nicer rides on Skytrain.

Most interesting parts (for us on SSP) were actually getting a decent look at the new OMC and also the spur at Coquitlam Station for the PoCo extension.

I have a feeling given that the spur is in place and it would only be a few KMs, the PoCo extension may happen sooner than we thing.

Still makes me excited that when this opens that Coquitlam and Port Moody will be added to the areas accessible by Skytrain.

That spur looks like it could cause issues once (if) the line is ever run to Poco.

Cool to see the tunnel finally, and the spur/switches.
Since it's a bored tunnel, it's a lot straighter than the Canada Line tunnel.

Most of the curves in the Canada Line along Cambie Street are for geological readons - to avoid the hard volcanic rock of Little Mountain (QE Park)

Also, isn't there some efficiency reasons? Like, it's better to have a station at the top of a gradient if possible, so you use gravity when you leave the station to help out acceleration and gravity when slowing down in the approach to a station.

What kind of issues? frequency issues?

Question I have... would a spur be a 3rd platform ( like Lougheed ) or will it completely avoid Coquitlam Central Station?

Yes that's my understanding too.

Daily Hive also has pics:

Don't know about that part for the vertical gradients, but it does make sense.

Saw the Global report. Reporter mentioned that his ears popped in the tunnel, surmising it was because if the elevation change

be prepared for complaints.
