When they first came on line, they were used out of Winnipeg a lot, before they were transferred to Sky Regional.

I don't know of it either, but Compass/SkyWest/Shuttle America etc. fly the 170/175 over the Rockies as if they aren't there. So I doubt there's any limit.

I think I had read somewhere that it's a limit imposed by Transport Canada that isn't imposed by the FAA.

Hmm, I'll have to check into it. Cause it's interesting that United would be exempt from it on YEG/YYC flights to SFO as the flights originate in Canada.

I can't be certain, because I can't verify it. It's just something I read.

Apparently TC requires obstacle clearance of up to 6000 ft in certain conditions.

Ahh, cool. So the restrictions likely do apply to United Express on these routes but are easily overcome. There's also Embraers on YVR-DEN so that'd be potentially subject to it as well. AS' YEG-SEA also going to Embraers eventually.

Another question since there are people in the know here - what does Air Canada do with all of these Rouge 763s in the winter? Do they really need all that capacity for sun destinations?

I realize - I was under the impression though that they weren't a fan of the E jets. Maybe it's just the E190 they don't like?

YVR base has three frames based in the winter.

One rotates daily through HNL or KOA(once per week)and LAS
One rotates daily through OGG and PHX or PSP
One rotates daily on the Mexican routes - CUN, PVR, SJD, ZIH (these RON in YVR)

Out east.... plenty of flying!

They are clearly being aggressive in getting the E190 out of the fleet and replacing it with bigger aircraft. That said, the C-series is the ultimate replacement and Air Canada is taking its time to get those.

Slightly off-topic note - I just wanted to thank all of you in this thread for the amazing wealth of knowledge you share here. Over the years I've absorbed a ton of aircraft and airport info and it's great that those of you in the industry are willing to put that info out here. Of course! I was just too lazy to look myself. The rouge network out of YYZ is, as you can imagine, huge. Easier to keep track out west as so much less flying!

Squeezed out a tiny tiny gain of 0.1% but it's still positive! 1,480 more passengers in Aug 2016 vs Aug 15.

July was actually revised down to 2.4%.
