I thought Scotia Place was a copper and gold blend. Anyway. with the change in glazing I just realized the solar load on adjacent buildings will change.

When energy square went up,the building across the street had to change the mechanical to accommodate solar loading on the north side of the building.

The new black ones, that are along 104 St usually look like garbage cans. But they are super easy to empty, without using the suction hose. During my morning commute, I often catch them emptying cans near the school museum on 99th Ave, before heading North along 104th. They usually do the 2 blocks, to Jasper, in the same time I walk it and I walk quite fast.

These new ones, unless the top ring comes off, which does not seem like a 2 second activity, will require the suction hose most of the time. So I would want to wholesale move to them, until we see how they stand up to use and work in action.

They should have gone the vancouver route and put the holders for empties on the outside, it keeps people from digging through the cans and throwing trash all over the place, which I see happening almost daily

Rumor on C2E is that Hyatt may walk away from the Quarters since the hotel building is not ready yet. Anyone in the know about this?

No clue but really wtf is taking so long. The exterior was finished over a year ago. Kind of ridiculous it has been sitting empty for so long.

You mean Hyatt as the brand and management company. Guess that could happen - but then the developer would seek another brand.

I mean, for better or worse, it's a hotel.

But yeah, taking forever. Could 96 Street still not being open be part of the issue?

I've inquired about this a few times over the years. The gold is worthless even if you could find a way to separate it from the glass. Not all gold glass has gold in it too.

A bar with mediocre food and service being successful is not a bad thing to have.

like the new nostalgic garbage cans.

So you have factual evidence to support your claim that Mercer is still around because of 'daddy's' money. Please show your cards 240....aaand go.

Given the history of the developer behind this my guess is that it has more to do with them versus Hyatt.

Wonder what vacancy rates are gonna be like once all new rental is up and running. That's a lot of large rental buildings coming on the market at a time when the city growth has been slowed down a bit. Definitely noticed a big difference this time around trying to rent my condo... Sat empty for two months and had to lower rent a bit... First time that's happened in 6 years... Some relief though for renters which is a good thing. It's nuts here in Dublin right now. Booming big time and no rentals available and prices crazy... Line ups down the street for some viewings. At least Edmonton will be prepared if the boom times return.

Weren't they supposed to be retaining the facade, or was that aspect of the development withdrawn? Or do I have this confused with another project?

my first thought as well but then I started to wonder if he even knows who the developer - as opposed to the architect - even is....
