The east crane is pretty much as high as it can go. The core crane will soon be in it's own way buried in the structure and cannot go higher, and the west crane cannot reach to where the east crane covers. The new location, not buried in the structure, close to the core, can reach all the areas needed for the last portion of the construction.

Watched them do at least 2 floors on the east side over the past week and late last week.

^^Yes. Last week they were at the 8th section (cross diagonal), now at the 9th. Also, lots of work on the roof of the lobby atrium on 18th, and there's a huge hole where work on the tunnel continues.

Looks like the first 3 floors of the hotel section are nearly finished on the east side (facing 18th):

Mass Damper

Does anyone know what kind of mass damper they're going to use and how/when it gets installed?

I was wondering if the larger piece on top of the core has something to do with the damping.

Just two weeks before I visit Philly for the second time. I was really hoping the steel framing would reach the top of the core by then but it looks like that's not going to happen. Good progress though since they've reached the hotel portion of the tower.

Thank you Philly-Drew. I'm visiting from Ottawa, Canada. Had a great time in Philadelphia when I was there a few years back. The skyline has changed a bit since!

I wish I could see all the archaeological stuff they dug up while putting the foundation of this building on. Does anyone know if an archaeological study was done and if so, if theres any websites with what they found on it?

In case you haven't seen this, I just noticed this video posted by Pietrini and Sons of the core being topped. [Click on picture to see video]

This is moving faster than I expected.

Any sense of when we're going to start hearing firm(er) speculation/plans for Comcast III?

If the past is any indication, typically by the time their new space opens it is already filled/accounted for.

^I'm sure only a handful of people know the details. For the rest of us its just a waiting game. It will definitely be interesting to see how high they go for the 3rd tower.
